2007 Sportsman 800 Clutch Question

My Polaris is a 2007 Sportsman 800 EFI/EBS Black Stealth edition, and it needs a new drive clutch and I’m wondering what other models and years this clutch works with, i.e is the 2005-2011 Sportsman 800 drive clutch the same? And or is the clutch the same as the Sportsman 500 models and so on. Thanks for any help.

06 800 x2 spitting and sputtering

So I have an 06 sportman 800 x2. It will run fine for about 30 min then it will start to spit and sputter then quits running. I will let it sit for about 30 min and it will start but then quits running again after about 10 min of riding. It runs longer if it is cold outside but eventually does the same thing. Any help would be appreciated

2001 Trial Boss 250 choke cable adjustment

Hi everyone. Actually I have two questions. Each question concerns a different year Polaris Trail Boss 250 but I better concentrate on one at a time for now…:)..I have a 2001 250 Trail Boss which I don’t believe the choke cable was put back on correctly or not adjusted properly. In very simple laymen terms how do I adjust the chock cable? Thanks for any help….Pete…

1990 Trailboss 350l no power/runs rough

I have a trailboss 350l I think it is a 1990 or 1991. Has only 300 miles on it. Very mild use for plowing driveway. This ATV sat for years unused. When I got it from the original owner I replaced the spark plug, drained the gas, cleaned the carb (twice) and it still runs like crap. I also adjusted the throttle freeplay in order to get it to idle. The rubber connections between the carb/airbox and carb/manifold seem to be fine with no cracks or holes.

It will idle fine but under throttle it just kind of pops and has very little power. It seems to improve (altho very slightly) at full throttle.

I drive a race car and it almost sounds like a rev limiter? Would this ATV have one?

Any ideas of what I can look at next?

Grease Gun Issue

So I bought a small grease gun from the Polaris dealer a couple years ago. It takes the small Polaris grease cartridges. It used to work in the past. Now I am having problems with it. After loading a new cartridge I get nothing when I squeeze the trigger. If I connect it to the zerk, I also get nothing and no resistance like it used to give.

The rod I pull back and lock to insert a new cartridge and I do remove the cap and tin foil cover. Then I unlock the rod. It seems like the lube goes behind the rod top cause eventually the rod goes all the way into the gun. Then when I pull the rod out it squeezes out lube from the back end. I am so confused.

Is the rubber gasket bad that is at the end of the rod? Help, I just went through 3 tubes of grease and got no where!!!!!

What do others use? Different types of guns or????

2002 Sportsman 700 – Drive Belt Replacement

Hi folks,

The last couple times I was out riding my ’02 700 Twin, I could hear what sounded like rocks bouncing around and hitting the inside of my fender. A few times I noticed I would temporarily lose a bit of power, so I would shut my bike off, wait 10-15 min, and she would always fire back up fine.

Well yesterday I was not so lucky – halfway up a semi-steep climb (steep enough to take notice anyway), i started to lose power, and eventually she quit on me….this was VERY shortly after I could hear ‘rocks bouncing around in my fender’. I was able to steer the bike off the trail rolling backwards, but I couldn’t get the bike to start…it was very clear that something wasn’t ‘turning’, and that it was likely the drive belt.

So, I get it towed home, take off the clutch cover to check the belt…and….VOILA!! [see photos]

My local polaris dealer has the belt in stock [$89] and I plan on changing it tonight, but is there anything special i need to know in terms of alignment? Should I be changing any washers? I don’t have the alignment tool and would love to avoid buying it for, what i hope, is the only time i’m ever going to change this belt? The cover seal looks like it’s in great shape and there was actually no sign of water in there (i’ve never swamped ‘er, but can’t speak for the previous owner)…actually everything, except the belt, looked like it was in a like new condition.

any tips are greatly appreciated!!!
