Hi, I am new to the forum and I know this topic has been discussed to death as I have been researching it for the last few weeks. Just hoping to get some direct help as I have reached a kind of grey area in my repairs. The last ride this bike was on was about a year ago when the battery stopped charging and since then has been put aside. Two weeks ago I decided I would try to fix it now that the time and money was available and the weather was nice seeing how winter is over :). First I tried boosting the bike and there was nothing. First off I installed a brand new battery and starter and voila the bike is running/driving perfect! Now I’m trying to diagnose the charging issue. From what I’ve read I’m thinking the two causes could be the ECM (engine control module) or the stator? Correct me if I’m wrong, hence why I am asking for help. Any way to trouble shoot these to see what my problem is? First real electrical job so just seeking a few pointers! Thanks and sorry if I posted this in the wrong section etc.

Hey all, been a while since I posted last. I was riding up in Jericho Mountain state park in Northern NH over Memorial Day weekend and my 05 sportsman 400 start to act like it was boggin down… but it wasn’t bogging per say… it had no problem getting to a certain point in RPM’s (can’t remember exactly what RPM I just remember that it was constant) once it hit said RPM it would act like the rev limiter just kicked in…. the more of the load on the engine the more it would do it. Even in Low Range. for example going up hill starting slow and trying to speed up it would kick in.. if I held the throttle long enough it would eventually come out of it.

Any thoughts?

I recently have purchased an ’07 Sportsman 500 EFI HO in December of 2014. It has ran fine until about a couple months ago. We mainly use the atv to pull a small wagon around the farm, and just to ride around. Recently it has been acting up. After it is started, it runs perfect. After riding for a while, when it gets hot, it starts stuttering at about 4000 rpm’s. It is weird because it only does it when it is hot. When it does it, it seems like it is starving for fuel for a split second, then it catches back up, and does it again. I called the local dealer I got it from, and they told me it could possibly be bad gas. So I got some good gas and ran a whole bottle of sea foam through it, and it didn’t seem to help. I read up on some threads of similar problems and one mentioned gas boiling. So my question is, WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX IT!! I think it is super weird because it on,y does it when it is hot, and aroun 4000 rpms, and only then. When the engine is revved, it purrs like a kitten. The problem isn’t completely messing up the machine to a point that it won’t run, but it is annoying and needs to be fixed. I really use the low end power on this quad, and right now with this problem it has hardly any, but yet it still works. Any help with this weird proble, wound be highly appreciated!

I have a friend with a 06 sportsman 500 and he went to start it yesterday and the recoil has engine oil in it. What could it possible be? Any ideas?

I have a 2000 polaris trailblazer 250, brakes locked up so i bled them , now i cant get any pressure and hand brake master cylinder is not retracting , anyone know what the problem might be
