Rear Winch

I’m sorry to start a new thread on this if one already exists but I couldn’t find anything on the forum. I am wondering about rear winch preferences and assembly, I may be fabricating a rear drag plow for my 06 polaris 800 and would like to know some options on how you accomplished the rear winch mounting and wiring.
Any info or leads would be great. Thank you all.

Winter Riding

I’ve never done any winter riding (I live in Wisconsin ), and I’m thinking about doing some and just wanted to see how many do it, and any tips and experiences you would like to share would be greatly appreciated

Sportsman ETX 1Year Review

I purchased my sportsman etx, now called the 450HO, January 2015 from my local dealer with a promotion which included a KFI 48" plow and 2500lb winch. I use this machine primarily for plowing snow, hauling firewood, navigating my ten acres of property along with various other chores around my house. I currently have 58hrs and approximately 225 miles on my bike and have had zero issues to date. All work has been performed by the dealer at the recommended intervals. This was my first ever quad I had purchased so I was new to everything in the atv world, and still am, but learning. As for as the positives, the etx is reliable, comfortable to ride, awesome fuel mileage, plenty of power, for me anyways being used more for utility purposes than anything. The winch and plow work great plowing my long hilly drive in the winter. As far as negatives I do have a couple, with the smaller tires than the 570 ground clearance is limited somewhat, hinges that hold the lid for the front storage compartment are less than to be desired, and the other which is more about me being picky more than anything, is the gear selector being just above your right knee. It just seems that if it was on the left side that it would be out of the way of your leg and you would not have to remove your hand from the throttle and then back again, not a big deal but jmo. In summary this is a great quad for the suggested price and will do just about anything that you need it to do. If you are more into mudding and trail riding, or looking for tons of power and speed, maybe the 570 or a larger model would suit you better. For the money this quad is hard to beat for what you get.

New to the Game

Good morning. I am 61 yrs old and live inlittle town of Moreland Ga S of Atl Have owned ATV’s for years. My wife had a bad accident up in Coal Creek Tn few yrs back and I sold them. That being said instead of buying a new 4X4 Truck to use around my farm and hunt with I kept my 2 WD Ram truck and purchased last week a Polaris 570 Std Full Size not the XP. Shopped and got a great deal in LaGrange Added a windshield, roof and front and rear 10" LED
flood lights. Did I go wrong not spending extra dollars and stepping up to the XP modl? I got the unit above and all extras for almost $500 less than what the XP would have cost naked . Then I had to add extras. Only thing I think I will miss after driving it for few hours is the turf mode when I need to pull up in my yard. Thoughts please. Take care and have a good day.

Hatfield & McCoy Trails – Bearwallow

Last year My buddies and I road the Rock House Trail System.
In late May of this year we plan on hitting up the Bearwallow Trail System.
I read on a different forum that some of the trails on this system have been shut down, having said that the thread was from 2014. Can anyone tell me if these trails are still shut down or are they reopened at this point?

Also, can anyone provide any recommendations on lodging in this area that will afford us the opportunity to hit the trail heads within a reasonable distance where we are not riding the road for long?

I appreciate any insight.

icy fun

Quarry where we ride is freezing over finally. Makes for fun riding up here in New England. Might be nuts but waiting for our first snow, have a new plow to try! So far very impressed with this quad. Kinda the tow truck too. Fourtrax keeps getting stuck! : )
