This new to me Polaris 500 Sporstman is starting to be a PIA. Son had it out in the woods. Turned off for a few minutes to move some debris. Got back on and nothing. No ignition. Won’t turn over. No problem. Pull start works and he brings it home. Ok so battery must be dead. Charge it up. Still nothing. I hear clicking when I turn the key. It’s not coming from the starter though but from something I assume is some sort of solenoid. Anyone have experience with this. It’s visible under the seat. I don’t have a manual so I don’t even know what part it is. I’d like to be able to call the local shop and get a replacement if that’s what it is. So what is it? Does it go regularly? Hope you can help.

Both are in excellent condition. The 06 Rincon has less than 300 miles and the 08 Rubicon has just under 1600 miles. I’ve got to choose between the two. I use an ATV mostly for hunting and seeding & spraying food plots. If you had your choice between these 2 ATV’s which one would you choose and why??? Thanks.

I was downshifting my 2012 ES Foreman as I came to a stop so that I would be in the correct gear at the next takeoff and shut the motor off with the gears between 2nd and 3rd. The motor would not start and I could not get the ES to get into a gear by rocking. It was like the ES was stuck. The motor was getting spark but it seemed no gas.
I finally dug out the emergency shift lever and got it in gear and it started. What really happened?

I’ve got an old Honda Fourtrax 300 that my Dad is letting me borrow. it’s very old, and was wonderful for years, but now it’s one problem after another.
I just got it home from shop where a rebuilt carb was put on – because the old one kept draining gas all the time (some pin/needled part, etc). In case you can’t tell, I’m NOT mechanically inclined.
So, now, I have two main problems:
#1: it won’t crank. The battery seems charged but when you push the start button, it has a loud, fast clicking sound coming out of this little square box that is connected to the battery. This has happened before. I’m 99% sure it’s NOT the battery because this happened a few days ago and I came back the next day and did absolutely nothing different, pushed the start button, and it cranked immediately. But now, it won’t crank again — just the fast, loud clicking coming from that square box.
#2: all 4 tires are locked up. This is new .. I have no clue what’s going on here. I cannot push the 4-wheeer at all – it’s definitely in neutral .. and as far as I can tell, the brakes aren’t engaged. Speaking of brakes – the front brakes on handlebar haven’t worked in years .. the only brake that has worked is the foot brake on the right side. The right handlebar brake isn’t even attached and the left parking brake is same way – it’s connected, but doesn’t work and is so loose, you can’t even engage the little parking brake flip switch thing on the left side.
So that’s where I am — I can turn the key, the green neutral light is on, the headlights are full and bright (when I turn them on), but it won’t crank – just the loud clicking sound. I would normally get a buddy and push the 4-wheeler up the ramps into my truck and haul it back to the shop (for the 4th time in 2 years) but like I said, the tires won’t budge. It’s all we can do to just drag it across the garage.
Hi everyone, I am servicing my 2011 Polaris Sportsman 850 and 550 again and man would I like to have a one on one with the engineer who designed these quads. I mean who puts a non removable skid plate directly below the transmission drain plug, what a %$#^%$ pain in the… And the grease nipples, it is very clear there was ABSOLUTELY no thought whatsoever about actually having to get a grease gun end to be able to connect to a grease nipple, there are 90 degree grease nipples out there Mr. Polaris engineer, and it sure is a hell of a lot easier to put them on at the factory during production than afterwards. Anyway thanks for a forum to vent, I am sure I am not alone in this. :firedevil:

Need some opinions. Looking for ATV boots, to be used for all types of play riding. Definitely need to be waterproof but warmth is not a big issue. Looking for options. Thanks
