Will they deny warranty???

There has been a lot of chatter on another thread about if you use oil other than Polaris will they deny your warranty or not. The Magnusson Most Act actually says they cannot. No where in the manual does it say if you don’t use POPO they will. My 500X2 manual says use any oil API certified SH is allowable as long as it is 0W40. Not one thing about warranty being denied if you do not. So what I am asking do you guys think Polaris can deny your claim if you do not and how will they know. Someone is going to have to prove the oil caused the failure and I believe that will fall on Polaris. What are your thoughts and if you have any dealer stories about it post them. My dealer says they cannot do it but if they try they have to sample the oil then have the parts tested.
This is just a easy question and lets respect each others opinions please. I will be gone riding until Thursday night and check back in when I get back and tonight before I go to bed.

2009 Polaris XP 550 squeak

I have a 2009 Polaris 550 XP Sportsman. I believe my initial ride was good but ever since the rear suspension has an awful squeak. I have talked with my local Polaris dealer and he never heard of the problem. Didn’t offer any solutions. Went to Spider Lake in Minnesota over the week-end and the squeak was worse than before. Are any of you other XP owners suffering with the same problem? If you have corrected the flaw what did you do?

Technical Question: Why 2 speed sensors on atv?

I have been trying to solve a speedometer issue in the repair subforum here but in my reading and researching the problem, I realized my 2015 Honda Rancher 4×4 has 2 speed sensors apparently. I was only aware of the one, in the rear on the bottom of the crank case where the drive shaft exits toward the rear axle. I recently learned there is apparently a 2nd one on the front final gear assembly – the same exact honda part number. My question is why would an atv have 2 speed sensors? Do the 2 work off of one another somehow? Does the front sensor only work when in 4×4 for some reason? Im just really wanting to know the answer to this question. It may help me diagnose the issue Ive been having. I do know that when I unplug the rear sensor the speedometer, odometer, and trip meter all stop working.

Id prefer someone who knows the real answer to explain it to me, rather than lots of speculation.

NEED ALL THE HELP I CAN GET 86 trail boss

Hey*everybody how’s it goin? New here to the forum and new to polaris machines so I’m a little stumped on this 86 trailboss 250 I picked up over the weekend d for $200. Im not new to atvs and am mechanically just dont know what to do with this machine looms like a mini snowmobile motor haha. Let me break down what I’ve found out so far about it……

it’s a real 96 had the vin ran at a dealership.
There is no shift knob for this machine…where is it.suppsed to be located and where does it hook into the transmission?
What size stock carb does it have?
Any known issues with these machines?
Is there any performance upgrades for these that are decent or keep it stock?
How are the tranny on these? Do they require a lot of maintenance or are they strong runners?
I’ll have a whole bunch more questions when I get the chance to keep going into it.
Thanks a lot for the help in advance guys much appreciated.

Oil check, hot or cold

Guys I am thinking that this subject has been covered before but I searched and no results so here goes, do you check your oil when your engine is warm or cold. And explain your reasons. Has an old car guy I was taught to check it when it was cold, am I wrong?

250x issues

I think I have a coil issue. My quad gets nice and hot to operating temp and then it won’t run unless it half throttle then it stalls. I think my generic coil is finally junk or maybe not any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Back-In Truck Bed Loading

Hey Guys, this is my first post here but hopefully only the first of many! Really like the discussion on here. :icon_cool:

I just bought a snow plow a few months ago. Got a decent driveway, 3 car widths plus some more with a 5 foot retaining wall on one side. Too big for another winter with the snow blower, but not long enough for a plow on my truck to be practical.

Had the dealer install the mount plate and plow, and they loaded it for me when they were done. The only way it would fit my 6 foot truck bed, was to back it in and set the plow on the open tailgate.

Got me thinking. Do any of you guys load your atv (quad) by backing it up the ramps?

I tried it a couple times now, it is a bit more uncomfortable but I think I actually prefer it and am feeling more confident about it each time. I have to back over my wheel well humps, and now my atv receiver hitch hits my truck bed before anything could hit my window, pretty nice. Able to remove my "window safety" 6×6’s from my truck for forward loading now.

I saw the dealer do this to another quad without a plow. Is backing in beneficial in some way?

Thanks Guys!

20% off VIPER ELITE 5000lb Winches

Hey Polaris ATV Gang,
We are offering 20% off our VIPER ELITE 5000lb winches through October 31.

Use the discount code: EX5000Winch20 on the final page of check out, give us a shout, or shoot us a PM if you want one.

The 5000lb may be a bit aggressive for the usual Sportsman. The reason for this sale is we ended up with a duplicate production run where we made 1000 EX5000 winches instead of 500. 🙂 So we are moving some out on discount.

So your price, right now, without mount is around $380 with free shipping and $420 with the mount. If you have some questions about winches and styles, here are some (hopefully) helpful videos that show some features and winches in action.

Finally, the ELITE comes with wireless, USA-made Amsteel Blue, stainless steel tie rods and hardware, and a full accessories kit with snatch block, cover, and line stopper.

Thanks for the great support over the years.
