I went to the local atv dealer just to look around and I found these heated grips on clearance for $10! Someone ordered them and never picked them up. This will make a great Christmas present for my Stepdad’s Rancher!
So I preorder and put my down payment on a brand new 2016 Polaris Highlifter 850 at the beginning of October. The dealer I went to is just over an hour away from me and he was 400 dollars cheaper on dealer costs then the one 15 minutes from me so I went to him. Seems like a better guy too. He told my bike should be in their shop in two weeks. Was happy and made plans for the next following weekends to go to several different mud bog events with it. Well two weeks went by the date he told me he’d have it in and after calling him everyday trying to figure things out. He gave me a date for 12/7 then the next day he called back giving me a better date of 11/5. Well that date passed and I just got a call today from my dealer telling me once he spoke with Polaris factory rep.
The 850 highlifter had some emission problems and the factory put the production on hold for them to fix it. I was told the factory is so backed up right now but I still should have my new bike soon. Hoping next week. I remember some people talking about the routing of the exhaust on the 850 in the other highlifter thread. Not sure if that could be related. I’m really hoping that their fix for this won’t rob any of the machines power.
Restoration Projects = other than 4 wheelers , Personally I am obsessed with restoring things , I enjoy looking at something made rather than bought
you can see there are some talented people on this site from the detail work on there rebuilds of the ATV’s , I am sure there are many who do other projects around the house related or not to ATV’s , I have never seen a thread of such and thought made it would be cool to see some other projects you guys have been doing
My latest was to make a new fire pit for the club house/Man Cave to me ( back patio to the wife ) , my old fire pit crashed literally as the chimney fell down , and I found a nice Hampton Bay frame at the Flea Market for $25 , it had tiles around the flat table area that were cracked up and missing some chunks , a rusted out pan and no cover , I had a couple of pieces of 3/16 diamond checker plate and made new plate sections , took the heavy duty cast iron pan off the old one , had my friend make a new ash pan out of stainless steel ( freebee ) , screen cover was a $5 find at the flea markets , couple of cans of 2000 degree fire resistant paint ( which I know isn’t going to last ) , I think this pit will last 3 or 4 years
I just got my 850 High lifter home and I noticed 4 clear hoses not connected to anything going up behind my instrument cluster. should they be connected at the top? or is it a vent hose
Finally brought my foreman in after the engine blow up. They told me that no matter whats wrong with it they would fix it. They said I could push it off a cliff basically and it would be covered. They put a winch on it when I bought it. It took about 2 months and the solenoid burnt and then blew all my fuses there finally fixing it hopefully then do it right this time. They honda shop covington louisiana are some good people glad I got the extra 2 year warranty bike blew up two weeks before the warranty went out thank it wasn’t 2 weeks after the warranty went up.
I always use ethanol free fuel in my 2008 Rubicon. I also add Sea Foam. Does the gasoline in the reserve get stale over time or does it cycle out when I fill the main tank?

Hi, we have a 2011 Rancher TRX450FPA 4WD. When it last used it about 2 weeks ago the display panel worked fine and showed-speed/mileage/neutral-reverse-drive-1,2,3,4,5, etc. Yesterday when we went riding, the only thing working was the neutral light. It ran fine no problems except it would not work in automatic only ESP. Checked, no fuses blown and connections ‘appeared’ to be good. Any advice on our next step? Thank you so much
