pulling left

I am a new 4wheeler owner and new on here as well so hello all. I purchased my 00 sportsman 500 4×4 used and it needs a little work. I was riding it around the house and twice it made a pop at the front and the bars jerked left for a fraction of a second it did this twice. Then while riding down the road it just started pulling left like I had to fight to keep it straight till i could get stopped. i limped to the drive way and then put it in reverse and backed up a little put it back in drive. i then pulled it into he garage and did not feel it pulling left. Now I am a decent mechanic and noted that the right front CV axle boot is busted and grease is all over I feel that this is the culprit but want to ask if it could possibly be something else as I have not really worked on ATVs

Thanks in advance

Last nights ride

Last night was wild , we had 7 bikes in our group and meet up in the woods with our friends who had 8 , had a great time , 15 bikes , the Polaris 750 Brute Force is one bad azz bike , so the lights on my wife’s and my bike both decide to go out , probably from water , so no problem we rode in line with bikes with lights in front and in back , so we all decide to call it a night and broke into two groups and went 2 different ways , the crew with me beelines it back to the house , so that leaves the wife , my neighbor and me way back in the swamp with 2 bikes with no lights and I had a flash light , so then the wife flips her bike over for the 10th time and this was about the worst , the bike was upside down and on top of her , I ran back the trail in total darkness and get the bike off of her , she was OK physically but mentally she goes bizzerk on me cause she didn’t have lights and thats why it happened , let it sit for a couple of minutes and then cranked the bike up and it was smoking bad , after about a minute it cleared up and we take off again , going thru some rough stuff my bike goes down , sounded like a fuel issue , wouldn’t stay running , so we hook up to my neighbor and he starts pulling me , remember I have no lights and he doesn’t know where to go as he is a follower and not a leader , so I recognize that we are going the wrong way on the wrong trail , so on a very tight trail we had to turn the dead bike around and get it hooked up again , we were calling our freinds on the phone and they were not answering , figured we would have a really hard time pulling the dead bike thru 2 miles of ruts so we headed to a trail to get to the pavement and rode a mile down the road to get home , found every body had loaded up and left , I am really pissed at them , still have heard from any of the 4 that left us behind —–so now is where it gets interesting , about an hour later my friend’s wife calls me and says her husband got separated from the other group , got stuck in a hole and there are no trees close enough for his winch and the cell service is iffy , so I try to call him and see where he is , no answer , so by myself I take off on another bike with lights and rode for an hour , stopping and trying to call every 5 minutes , stopping the engine and listening for motors , and finally see lights up the trail , by the time I got there people from the other group had found him and got him out , so then I had to go back 30 minutes plus by myself —-had 2 hours of sleep and it is going to be a long day today

Front shocks making a clicking sound?

Hey guys, I took my 87 TRX 350 out for some trail riding today and noticed that after riding for a little while that one of/maybe both of my front shocks were making a clicking sound at times when I would hit a bump or dip on the road….any ideas on what could cause that?

I just recently restored this bike and cleaned up and oiled both of the shocks prior to riding today and they worked just fine with no issues at all. It seems that after the bike had been running for a while and gotten warm is when it started. They are both non-adjustable stock spring air shocks just fyi.

More Carb Troubles……

Well I ran my 250 and I noticed there was more deceleration pop than usual (probably due to the cooler air) as well as a longer time to return to idle. I went to adjust the fuel/air screw and it fell out. Sure enough, the spring, o-ring, and washer were still in the hole. This has happened before so I used a smidgen of Loctite on the pieces to make sure the fuel/air screw stayed in with all of the other pieces and it worked…until I tried to adjust it. What can I do to stop this? really frustrated that if I need to adjust the screw I have to take the carb out.

Buying new bike sportsman 570 vs sportsman 550 xp

I Plan on getting rid of my 2012 sportsman 500 and buying a new ( will be a 2015 or 16) bike in the spring looking at 3 bikes. Pretty sure it’s going to be a 570 or 550 xp. Small chance I will buy a Can-Am Outlander L 500 because of this review (

). The polaris Lost but did better in the areas that for me make it the better choice. The 5 year warranty may push me to the Can-am)

I’m more concerned the comparison between the 2 polaris ( my knowledge of the xp is pretty limited and couldn’t really find any good comparisons on the net) bikes but advice on the can-am would be nice as well.

Just a quick list of what I use my bike for. Live in northern Canada. So lots of heaving snow plowing. I use bike to haul wood all winter to fill wood rooms. I trail ride quite a bit. I’m in great Canadian shield territory. So lots of steep rocky hills lots of water and plenty of mud. Bike will have power steering as well as I plan on buying tracks after bike id paid for.

Thanks

Waders

I just picked up a set of waders for riding this winter , went with the Magellan neoprene chest waders for $90 , seemed middle of the road , the rubber version were $39 , and talked with people that paid $169 all the way up to $300 for their waders , I am a little afraid they won’t hold up to thorns ———- any good or bad comments on these waders ??? ———- hows about some ideas on a rack to hang them on so as not to get the fold marks in them as I have had trouble in the past with hip boots made of rubber that get messed up when you store them folded , not sure if it really matters with neoprene
