I woke up a little late and was planning to leaving work early today anyway soooo….I called in sick. As a diversion from daytime tv, I found myself perusing craigslist. I stumbled on a recent "Honda 250 4 wheeler project" post "needs work, $200". Looked more like a 300 to me so I gave him a call. He claimed he’d had a few calls on it so I figured I’d better move on it plus he was about 30 miles away. I hitched up and moved out. On the phone he claimed it ran great when he parked it 3 years ago. By the time I got there he claimed he’d had dozens more calls on the post. After a few failed attempts to kick start it, he lifted on to my trailer with the loader on his tractor.
Upon arriving home my 4 year old son was thrilled, my wife not so much. A little closer look found a wasp nest under the front fender an old rodent nest in the air box and a colony of roaches in the battery compartment. There’s a lot of play in the handlebars (maybe a bushing or bearing to isolate the frame?) and the shifter lever seems stripped. It’s kinda rough but should be a fun project.
