Ok, engine stalled, did I do good or bad???

Hit a 3" deep puddle going full speed in 3rd gear in my 2000 recon. Middle of puddle engine quits (hit puddle several times before in pervious 10 min no issue). Tried to restart, engine turn over no run. Waited 5 min, tried again no start. Pulled choak back to max, engine will start. Gave it a little gas, stall. Started gain full choak, put in gear and limped along for 100 feet. Pushed choak back to rest (no choak position) bike ran ruff. Continued another 100 feet bike running good. Ran bike for another 10 min at higher speeds to dry everything out…no water on paths. Put bike away, let fast idel for another 5 min to get bike more dry. Checked air box, dry. Checked filter dry.

Ok, did I flood my carb or get water in there? I’m thinking I flooded it when I hit the water and the speed of the bike was reduced quickly (and water slashed everywhere…good times). Was this the correct way to get my bike restarted? May have restarted with the choak engaged when first stall…didn’t think of using choak till didn’t start after letting it sit 5 min. Suppect I am not the first person to hit a puddle going fast on a recon.

Puddle was really 3" deep max. Water came just above my tennis shoe.

Flooding Midwest…..

We have been blessed with an unusual amount of rain this June here in the Midwest. Got a chance to hit the trails, lots of fun riding in 6" of water. Kids had water splashing over their heads. Think I have a few future mud runners.

Hope others have had a chance to play in the puddles. Rains much more will have to concider renting jet ski’s.

New foreman

Is it normal for a new (1.6 miles) machine to have oil residue covering the entire rear end after the first ride? I took my daughter for a short ride after purchasing this machine today. I put it back in the truck and noticed a puddle of oil that settled at the bottom of the rim. After looking further there was a mist of oil covering anything I could see up under the rear end, including the wheel on the other side.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

2003 Rincon clutches and case questions

So tore down the engine because it stopped pulling when going up inclines, Found one of the o-rings was destroyed, Also noticed a 2mm crack in the center case behind the clutch. Anybody else run across this and if so is it a huge problem? Second question is I want to change the clutches while im in there, do i go back oem or anybody recommend and hi-pro ones?

what happened to the vin decoder?

I used to go to the perepolaris site and look up vins and see past owner, where purchased and most important it would decode the 7 digit vins which I found usefull as I work on lots of old ones. Just got another unknown oldie in the shop and cant seem to find a decoder for the vin, its 1562592 if anyone can help that would be nice, if anyone can help me help myself that would be nicer.

Bought an 03 sportsman 700, have a few questions.

I bought an 03 Sportsman 700 twin. It runs and drives it has a few little issues like the oil dipstick tube has a chaffed hole and it spitting out oil that was an easy fix and diagnosis. It needs rear wheel bearings also.

This is my first fourwheeler its rough around the edges but i only paid $1000 for it.

One of the main questions i have is about the suspension i think, When i turn left the right front tire feels like its going to roll right over when weight gets put on that side. When i turn to the right i feel like i can turn sharp at 30-40 mph without a problem (exagerated im sure), is that just a bad shock? it also pulls right when going down a flat dirt rode i actually have to turn left a little to go straight. There doesnt seem to be any clunking or anything goin on.
What should i look for in the front end to make sure its tight?

Also the kill switch is very finacky it has to be in the on position but towards the off position or else the display doesnt work and they wheeler wont turn on.

please let me know what you guys think thank you!
