Atv build dates

Does the atv industry have an industry standard as to build dates and year models.

I know in the auto industry when looking for parts anything with a build date of the 9th month is considered the next next year model.
is an 87, but the build date is 5/86.
The 86 parts rig I picked up yesterday is an 86, with a build date of 3/85.
If I am not mistaken, I have read on here that there is some differences between the 86 and 87, mostly electrical iirc, but wondering if my 87 was built ai may of 86 if the parts would be the same as the 86?

What’s your ball size?

Just got this 700 grizz and I’m adding a hitch ball on the back just for the sake of having a good trailer tie down point. Not sure what I’d be towing with the bike in the future but I suppose I’d like to get whatever ball size would be most common on the things I’d be likely to tow with an ATV.

So which size yall think would be best…1 7/8", 2", or 2 5/16" ?

Why do this.

A guy posted a craigslist yesterday evening with a 86 350 for sale, many new parts but doesn’t run. For parts, or if mechanically inclined you can make it run.
He doesn’t leave a contact number, you have to reply by email.
This morning (I don’t do email) I called my son and told him to email the guy and tell him to call me and I would take it.
An hour or so ago I get a text, a text mind you, not a call. He had to have the phone in his hand, had to enter my number, I had to pickup the phone to see the text, sooooooooo we both Could have talked on the phone easily. I did get his number and call him back, but no answer, left a message that I would take it if he CALLS me. I don’t play the text game, don’t even know if my old flip phone is capable of it.

My question is if a guy wants to sell something and goes to the trouble of listing it, why does he limit his options, some of us old foggies tries hard not to keep up with technology. lol
What has people got against TALKING on the phone these days?
