started riding yesterday, thought the lever felt soft. after a while it would go all the way in going down a long hill, if i let off and squeezed again it was right there but would fade again. ok, air in the line is what it felt like… reservoir is full, no leaks, only about 100 miles on new pads. by the end of the ride, nothing, soft lever and no stopping. the rear works fine with the pedal.
thoughts? i’m guessing the master cylinder/reservoir took a dump. it’s only two years old.
Got new cables coming in mail, But. How do you unhook the brake cables from the hub? Do I have to take the wheels off or the Allen bolts out? (tried all most broke Allen wrench) Ty.
P.S. Also need help finding Throttle cable and Air box.
Hi, new b here I have a question that has puzzled me for days. I have a 1997 polaris 500 4×4 all seems to work ok except I cant get the front left wheel to disengauge when I want to be in 2w. Have I got a bad armiture plate I’ve had it apart 3 or 4 times cant find the problem. Sometimes it will disengauge then go back into 4×4 it is a real bear to deal with! Dont want to take it somewhere to get a simple fix done if I can help it.. Thank for any advice or help

Hi guys, I had an issue with the rear brakes on my wifes 2013 Sportsman 500 over Memorial weekend. We were about 6 miles into our first ride and she called me on the Garmin and told me she had no brakes. I rode back to the last stop sign and she was not lying. No front or rear brakes. The rear caliper was still really hot, it had melted the seals, the dust covers for the pins , and even got the hub hot enough to melt the dust cover for the castle nut off. All the brake fluid leaked out on the rim from the front master cylinder. When I got it home I checked the rear master cylinder reservoir and it was still topped off with fluid. I put a new caliper on it and bled the system. The rear master was hard to get to bleed, but finally got it. I took it out for a test drive yesterday and after riding about 5 miles to my brothers house I checked the rear caliper and hub and they were both pretty hot to the touch, the fronts were cool. However, I didn’t notice any bogging and with the machine in neutral it rolls easy so I don’t think the brakes are locking up. I didn’t smell brakes burning either. I really don’t want to trash another caliper. Do you have any idea what could be causing this? I am thinking maybe the rear master is bad because when the seals did melt the rear did not leak out but also were not working. But if this was the case, wouldn’t the rear be locking up? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
hey hope every one is enjoying there weekend. Im just wondering what spring setting yous all use on your XP sportsman. I have a Sportsman XP 1K and i think the springs are set too soft

My ’03 Sportsman 600 sits low on one side, when parked on a level surface. It measures 3/8" higher on driver’s left, which doesn’t seem like much, but is certainly easy to notice when you walk into my garage. I’ve checked all the obvious – tire pressures, spring preloads, broken coils, etc. and everything seems normal. The performance of the suspension on the trail is perfectly normal too, which makes it all the more puzzling. It’s almost as if something is pinning the low side down, rather than just the weight of the unloaded bike itself. Is it possible that a strut issue might be causing this? I know she’s an oldie, but with only 2000 easy miles on the odometer, sagging coil springs seem far-fetched. It’s also worth noting that I weigh a pretty average 180 pounds and don’t carry heavy gear or cargo. Any suggestions?
I snapped the tip of the bleeder valve screw off while bleeding the brakes. The whole valve is 26$ but I just need the screw. Would a screw from an auto parts store work, if so does anyone know the size or the screw from the front brake bleeder valve which I can find for 2.50$. Thankyou
