’05 Sportsman 800 HD Springs?

Interested in swapping out stock springs with some HD to help with sagging rear and mushy front end in corners, not interested in a dramatic lift. Rear tires sit top toed in pretty hard, even with adjuster on highest setting. Would like something firmer especially when my wife rides with me, but not too stiff as to lose that comfortable Polaris ride. And of course front dives pretty hard on braking and cornering, even worse with any weight up there.

After researching, looks like my only options are the Polaris HD up front and EPI rears. Anyone know of any others? Not sure what the year differences were but ’05 800 seems to be excluded from most catalogs: EPI doesn’t show fronts, Polaris doesn’t show HD rears, highlifter shows neither. Anyone with any direct experience or know some parts that might fit my needs? Any help appreciated.

Fox Podium X Shocks

I have looked absolutely everywhere for some information on the Fox Podium X Shocks that came on my new Sportsman 1000 LE, and I have come up empty handed. Fox’s web site has nothing, the Polaris owners manual doesn’t have ANY info in it about suspension, there’s no supplement manual… Weird.

Suspension is the one department where I have the least amount of knowledge. I could rebuild an engine if I needed to, but suspension confuses me. These shocks look relatively simple. Looks as if it’s just a single compression setting, as well as the spring settings with no rebound adjustment. I’m just not sure where to start. I’ve read a few Fox manuals on adjusting, but I would love to see something specific to these shocks. Looking at the Podium X shocks on Fox’s webiste, it shows a dual compression knob, so I know it’s not the same thing. It also shows the model year as 2011.

Anyone know where I can find some info on these shocks, and how I could go about getting them properly adjusted?

1998 Sportsman – Hard brake lever to no pressure and back

I just bought this machine and took it for my first ride today. I noticed when I bought it the brake lever required a lot of force to squeeze to get stopping power. On my ride today I lost braking all together, the hand lever pulled all the way to the bars and the foot lever also gave out and didn’t do anything. I kept the speeds low on the way home and a few minutes later full pressure returned to the foot pedal and the hand brake lever.

I have no idea what would cause this and don’t know where to start looking. I did a quick check around, I don’t see any leaks and the brake fluid reservoir is full as normal. Any ideas?

Thanks!

570 rubber on swaybar links torn

Hey all, new to forum but lurked for awhile when shopping for an atv. Picked up a 2015 sportsman 570 indy red a few weeks ago. Still breaking it in fairly easy.

After a ride, cleanup and inspection today, I noticed that some rubber came off on the upper part of the rear swaybar links where it attached to the bar.

It does not appear to serve any purpose that I can tell except to hide some metal. What’s bizarre to me though, is how uniform it was left to right. Torn the exact same way on both sides.

Any thoughts on this? Is it protecting a seal inside there of some type? Dealer is a good 2 hour drive away, would hate to have to fork out $200 just to get it there and back if it’s nothing to worry about.

On a side-note. Anyone else find their machine has a noisy drive-train going over bumps on de-acceleration? Does that same engaging noise that you get when initially taking off.

Braking issue

So yesterday I was out riding my 2008 sportsman 500, it has brand new brake pads and I bled the brakes about two months ago. But yesterday as I’m riding I slowly lost a little brake pressure and my lever had a little more slack then usual. Then I go to hit them again and I have no pressure at all and the piston on the lever couldn’t of stuck cause my fronts were not engaging. Then a couple minutes later I had more pressure then I ever had and it was super touchy. Then about an hour later only my left front would engage, and now its like nothing happened! Any ideas what this could be?
