Then last night decided i was bored of sitting around and headed back down to our land, rivers coming up and scouting a plan b for an atv bridge to span where river runs into lake when it comes up, decided to take some trails i dont normally ride and happened upon mama and baby deer. I think at this point theyre starting to get used to me as everytime we meet they are less skiddish. So seen baby deer munching away just off a trail
Knew mama was gunna be close and it took me a few seconds to pick here out…she blended in pretty good in real life when i was scouring to find her
So when i knew where everybody was at, shut off the quad, turned down the stereo and just enjoyed the stand off staring contest. Mama was doing the typical hoof stomp altering her front legs, no snorting though. About 10minutes into the stare off, baby got bored and went back to eating while i watched them both and mama was still tap dancing.
Finally i got bored, fired up the quad, turned up the tunes and sat there..figured itd spoom them but no. Starting idleing up the trail and only made it about 5′ and baby took off and once mama was sure it was safe, then she took off too. Simple things like that make me happy…and to think mama is gunna be in aomebodies freezer in a few more months.
Theres another couple deer i see nothing but whitetails of on the far backside…havent been able to get close enough to tell if theyre antlers or not but have to assume so as skiddish as they are, but its a pair and theyre both decent bodied…pretty neat how all the trails we’ve made have now become a deer and critter super highway, had a huge rain the other day that freshly beat down our trails of all tracks prior, so got to see just how heavily traveled they are yesterday.
Fwiw, anybody wanting a good herbicide, i bought that glyphosate 41%. Trails were brush hogged 2 months ago, i sprayed 70 gallons about a mo th ago, and man does that stuff work great.
