O2 sensors on 2015 models

As some of you have already found out, Honda has some bad O2 sensors on a number of their 2015 models; including motorcycles and atv’s. Honda got a bad batch of O2 sensors from a supplier. They are aware of this problem, and they (and their dealers) are prepared to replace any bad sensors.

So, if you are having a problem with your sensor, take your atv and/or motorcycle to a Honda dealership and they will replace it for you.

communication question.

I’m trying to find a way for my wife and I to talk while we’re out on the trails. I’ve looked at various communicators for our helmets that would run anywhere from $200-$500 for us to talk. We’re cheap and honestly it’s not that important to buy something when we ride no more than 20 yards from each other. In the past I’ve called her on my phone and we just talk with the headsets that come with our phones, but we often ride in areas that do not always have cellular service. We both have iPhones I was wondering if anyone knows of an iPhone app that uses Bluetooth to talk to each other. I’ve seen a couple apps on the app store that allow this and just want to see if anyone has tried them and what their experience has been. I would also like to see if there is an app that allows us to listen to music when nobody is speaking, like some of those higher end communicators. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Junk new Grizzly

Finally found a chink in buddys grizzly. Did a ride on some new private land this evening after the football game and at dusk i noticed his taillight bright as heck…and realized no brighter when id watch him grab the lever.

So got back here and checked both micro switches for the hand brake front and rear brakes, micro switches both opened/closed correctly. Pulled rack and plastic off to get access to bulb to make sure it wasnt installed 180 off..that was fine. Turned lights off and the brakes light came on but it was dimmer…like what a running light would look like, turned lights on and blinding light.

Traced wires on harness and there were 3 wires, yellow/blue/black….i just unplugged and switched the yellow/blue wires (didnt pay attention to bike side of harness at the time i just wanted to redirect juice to opposite side of bulb)…after seeing it worked properly, thats when we noticed the wires were now color coded correctly..yellow to yellow and blue to blue…so musta been a color blind guy on assembly line that day, 1 black and 2 gray wires…50/50 shot of getting it right.

So finally a damn problem with that machine, sucks it was a free simple fix vs all the crap mines had, but a problem non the less….fricken junk azz yamaha.

Wife’s ‘Saki BF 300

Wife and I went out riding today, and got some good pictures of her on her new Kawasaki Brute Force 300. Since it’s not a Honda, figured this would be the best place to put this thread. She never rode an ATV before, and this one is perfect size, and though it’s not Honda quality (the BF300 is made by Kymco), it has more features than the Recon and every other ATV in its class. Disc brakes, more ground clearance (though admittedly not by much), liquid-cooled 271cc engine (that they call a "300"), and other stuff (storage compartment, 12V accessory plug, bottle holder, etc.). She absolutely loves it, and that’s what’s important to me. 🙂

We had an absolute blast today, and I’m so proud of how well she rode the technical trails. She liked "warming up" on the easier trails, but asked me if I knew more technical, slow-crawling trails, and of course I did. The Brute Force 300 took it in stride, and because of how nimble it turns, she had an easier time of some stretches than I did on my Rancher! We have Sena 20s bluetooth headsets and she kept saying, "Babe, this is so awesome!" Enjoy. More to come. 🙂

I got told! (some humor for you!) I don’t find it that funny though!

Alright so as some of you probably know I have been looking for my own ATV and I have been searching online ads in my area. I was looking for an 850 but saw this ad for a 2010 550 with power steering, 2100km for only $3999.
It’s a better deal than most on the Web site in my area so I thought I’d take a look.
Contact the guy and plan to meet at his place, I head out there (15 min drive) and when I pull up his son is riding a 550 xp and it looks terrible, headlights are falling off etc. So right away I’m like yikes, is that the quad I’m here to see?
Turns out this guy has 4 polaris atvs, and two of the 55p xps.
The one I went to look at is in better condition with a glance, but he’s messing with the battery, turns out the he hasn’t ran it in like 6 weeks and the screw is missing from off the one terminal, he eventually finds a screw and starts trying to boost it. So I’m like whatever I’m here I can wait a couple minutes. I start walking around the atv and I was shocked.
The rear handle is bent, the muffler is so rusted it’s peeling off every where, the seat just sits there because the pins are broken right off, the dipstick was broken off so you couldn’t check the oil, I looked into the oil fill hole and could only see a very small amount of oil in it, took the air filter off and oil pretty much poured out, the filter was so saturated and it was full of grass seeds, the whole front rack was missing(he said "it’s probably around here somewhere), the harnesses to the headlights were broken on the wires, and the plugs were hanging off the tape, brakes were in need of replacing and rusted, and all the plastic was out of alinement and not connected with the push pins.
And that’s not all there was two tires right flat and they were worn right to nothing. The winch was there but looked broken too, the handlebars had warmers but the rubber was taped on.
I eventually had to go and he never did get it started.
When I asked him about the oil in the air box he said he doesn’t have any idea is his kids quad. Kids like 13.

When I got home I started going through everything that I could see that was broken or in need of repair and made a list so I could tell him my reasons if we ever contacted again.
I came out to around $3500 US (I’m I’m Canada)

Sent he text me the next day and said he got it started and it runs good.

And here is out texts back and forth…
Tell me what you think!

Him: Took quad for a ride, runs great.

Me: Hey, thanks for the update. To be just honest with you I would have a tough time offering you $500 for that quad. The condition it’s in I would have to put a lot of $$ into it. It’s been ridden very hard. Also the oil is very low, as well as the air box and filter are absolutely full of oil. No way I can give you anything close to your asking price. Sorry just being honest.
Just by looking at it yesterday and not even looking that hard I can tell I would need to replace: brakes, muffler, tires, headlights, headlights wiring harness, front rack, Etc Etc. Also with the oil that low I can’t be sure how long the Motor will even last.
Also that muffler is peeling so bad from rust and that tells me it’s been in water for a long time. Not to mention bearings, seals and gaskets.
I would have to sink about $3500 into it before I would consider taking it out riding with my buddies. Once you calculate all the parts that need to be repaired or replaced.
So I will make you an offer of $500.

Him: To be honest with YOU,,,,you can Go f–k yourself!your lookin for a unicorn,,go buy a new quad ya f–kin douch.have a nice day

Me: Woah, did I talk like that to you? You or your kids have ridden those quads to nothing. You expect more? Take that to the polaris dealer get everything fixed and maybe you will get $3999 for it. You can’t expect to ride stuff that hard and get that much for it. BTW if you want to sell something, make sure the tires are pumped up and it runs

Him: Are you f–kin kidding me???take it to a dealer and get everthing fixed then its worth 3995.00?!!
It runs excellant you f–kin dummy, that alone is worth 4times what your offer is,,,your clearly lookin for somthing for nothing, and are mentally retarded, you cleary dont have a set either making insults over the phone,a real man wouldve insulted me in person.go find another sucker, hes not here!

Me: Whatever. Hope you sell it. Quit freaking out

Do you think someone should pay more than $500

Wondering?

So I went to the Honda shop here in town to go pick up the back brake lines for my foreman in which they said they had when I called them 30 minutes early but they didn’t. So anyway I’m looking at the 2015 Foreman and they look like they squat in the back. My 2013 looks higher up does anybody else notice this and I was looking at a Rubicon with big 27s on it and the shocks seemed super stiff I put all my weight on the back (170 pounds) and the shocks didn’t compress at all. Is the ride stiff on the Rubicons or yall think they just had the shocks stiff for the 27s?

Made a trade friday

As some of you know I bought a 2000 Rancher a while back. I bought a bunch of parts to get her back up to good condition. One of my coworkers had a buddy that just bought a Polaris Trailblazer for his wife. Turns out I have been looking for one for my daughter. She doesn’t want to change gears and she wanted a quad like mom. I told him to ask his buddy to give me dibs if he wanted to sell it later or trade for the rancher. He called me Friday and wanted to meet up. He drove out to the house with the Polaris. I broke out the rancher and all of the parts. I had not even finished putting it together. We swapped no questions asked.
It need a little work here and there but I’m happy with it, and my daughter will be extatic. Here is one pic I’ll have more as I get it fixed up
