Can you tube radials?

I upgraded my stock wheels and tires last year to a set of black steel ITP 12" wheels… OEM replacement type, but with a 2" offset built in for a wider stance.

I chose STI Black Diamonds because they seemed like a great radial tire for the money.

The entire time I have had them, they just don’t hold air that well. I run 5.5psi, and when I run in mud and sand, they get grit and crap jammed down into the bead, which causes slow leaks. Every time I ride, I come back and clean the quad, and 1-3 days later at least one of the tires is going flat. Every time, and never the same wheel, its always random.

But the cause is the same every time, and every time, I have to remove the wheel, and get down in there and clean out the bead area as best I can and after 1 or 2 attempts, it will finally start holding air again. Until the next time I ride.

My buddy has the same rims on his 570, but with Mudlite XL’s and he has never had a leak, despite having a chuck of wood being being jammed in there one day… Just something about the STI’s…

So they have plenty of tread left and I do like the way that they ride, but my choice is either replace them all, or just throw tubes in them so that they won’t leak any more.
