Busted front diff!

I have a 2012 900 XP with a low boost turbo. I just put 30" Outback Max tires on it and the first bog I hit, snapped the pinion snout right off the diff! Is this common?
My question is what the heck to do? I’m leaning toward the billet housing, should be cheaper as a lot of my internals are still good. I have read about a 1000 diff swap but also read it was a huge job. Plus the 1000 diffs are not cheap! Do the billet 900 housings work good? Thanks, Dan
