Buff Mtn – Devils Anse – Rock Run

Just got back to Pittsburgh from a 4 day ride at H&M.
Wednesday we (5) of us decided to tackle the Buffalo Mountain – Decils Anse – Rock Run ride.
We got off to a later start than anticipated, 10:30am. We stopped along the way on a number of occasions just to take it all in and appreciate the scenery. We finally reached Keith’s Bar and Grill around 4:30pm. So the ride (one way – 72 miles) was half done and now had to head back. Knowing we had nightfall upon us we hit the trails hard and fast on the way back. The last 1.5hrs were in complete dark. Without headlights you couldn’t see your hand a foot in front of your face! We landed on our doorstep around 8pm and 130 miles later. It would have been closer to 140, but the last 3 miles were made by road as we were all pretty whooped.

Great ride with no injuries and or mechanical issues!

The following day we hit the buffalo mountain double black diamond trails. The hill coming back up were pretty narly! Probably 3-400′ of solid rock 1:1 hills that claimed, not one, but two of my buddies GBC Grim Reapers that are 8 plys. I use the same tires and had zero issues but my approach was a bit different than his. I decided on low gear and creaped while he chose high and was a bit faster. I think the "slow and steady…" Approach won this time.

Great ride, great times! Highly recommend!!!
