Boot & strap

Got a small problem. I had a tore boot…no problem….just order new one and replace. Pull the shaft and clean up the CV. Install new boot. Tried to use old "Polaris boot bans, but they are just barely long enough to fit around the new boot. When I would try and tighten up to the "normal" locking spot….the boot would roll up and pull off the CV joint. Way to tight. Now as ya’ll know…the bans/straps that "Polaris" uses is those that you can squeeze together and lock in. So I used the strap/ban that came with the new boot.
The new boot came with the type that has to be "rolled up" and folded over. Tap the ears down and cut off remaining strap. No probem with doing that. ONLY that now when I go to install in the strut housing…..the ban/strap is hitting on the housing. I have went back and tried to tap the "nuckle" down….but that did not help my struggles. It still hits. ( Starts rubbing bout 6 o’clock > 10 o’clock ) This boot looks to be a bit thicker than the boot that was on it. Which I dont mind that…but the thicker-ness of the boot now has cause me rubbing problem. Also..by cuting the ban…I now have a strap that if I break it loose….I will not be able to tighten back up because there is not enough there to grab on to and tighten up. ( I have not broke loose yet….so the last statement may be untrue…just speck-u-lateing ).
Anyone have this happen to them…..and how did ya fix it? Did you have to go back with "factory" boots? Or did ya get another strap and tighten down MORE and hope that it doesn’t hit?

Thanks,
Hump
