I had Tusk Trilobite HD’s from rocky mt atv on my old big bear, but only for a month before I sold it. They seemed to be all I needed in a tire, but the reason I ask is because I seem to keep reading that Bighorns last forever (case in point the most recent BH thread in this forum). I know theres also a Duro tire that is priced between the Tusk and the Maxxis. Probably some others with similar tread pattern around. Also not sure if I even really need radials? I dont do much road riding, and don’t you have to balance radials? My tusks I just slapped them on and went, though the big bear only went 35 mph, so maybe I will notice if whatever tire I put on is not balanced?
Hell, I’m not even set on that tread pattern, but I know it seemed to do what I wanted. I dont mud bog, I use my bike around the farm/ to check fields (corn stalks can be really hard on tires if you cant ride down the rows) and trail ride. But the Tusks were a great price for that tread pattern and what I wanted them to do.
Also debating going up to a 26" tire. Does that require clutch work? I have a 660, how much will I notice the drag if I go up an inch size on my tires? I can’t imagine it would be much, this bike seems to have all the power I need. But at the same time, I dont want to get them and then find out I really do need to do some clutch work. (for reference I’m 190 lbs)
sorry for the story, but I know you guys have experienced some of these things so I hope someone can shed some light.
