I was going over the engine, just making sure everything looks good, and my heart dropped when I found this. It must be new because I wiped down the engine a week ago and it wasn’t there, I see a little oil near the crack, I smeared some high temp rtv on it. Do you think I’m screwed.

400ex front caliper
My guide pins for the brackets are stripped out, I found both calipers for 75 bucks but it says I a generic brand, would that be okay.

So the threads on the carb that the throttle cable screws into is stripped, no threads left, what should I do, I thought about putting a nut on top and on the bottom. I don’t think a helicoil will work but I could give it a shot. I don’t know how on earth these stripped out.

400ex operating temp
Is it normal for my 01 400ex to run about 250-260 at the cylinder head when I use a temp gun. I have stock bore, stage 2 hotcam, lexx exhaust, I am jetted a little rich but that’s hw I like it, I do run 7 octane, will higher octane help? I don’t have any problems with it overheating, just curious.
rear skid plate 400ex
my stock rear skid plate oon my 01 400ex is touching the rear shock linkage, and rubbing, any reason why its doing this, I took it off and tried remounting it but it still touches it. are the aftermarket rear skid plates good quality?

I am looking to sell my 400ex, I like honda atvs, I was looking at the 450r. Anyone know if the ltz400 is good or bad. Thanks
Quick question about timing tensioner
I believe that my tensioner in my 400ex is bad. Can I just get a long extension and socket and take the tensioner out without taking the topend apart. I don’t think it will mess with timing but better to be sure.

400ex ticking
01 Honda 400ex has a ticking, slapping noise. It gets louder the more I accelerate. I have a stage 2 hotcam but this seems more than that. I’ve read that the tensioner can go bad but I had it out and I couldn’t push the spring in with my fingers. I do know that the timing chain rollers have bits and pieces missing from them, on the side of them there’s a little ridge well some of its gone. It’s really loud in 1st gear. But in 2nd it’s quieter. Really weird. I’d post a video but I don’t think that possible.
400ex brakes keep locking up
400ex brakes lock up after a night of sitting. The next morning I have to open the bleeder to let a little fluid out and the brakes are fine. Any ideas why it’s doing this.
