so i have noticed that it looks like theres gas in the oil tank, now mixed all in with the oil. the oil has lots of small bubbles and is clearly not as thick as it should be.
theres also some gas in the air filter and air box. oil leaks all over my motor and i have no idea where its coming from ever, and i also cant get rid of a ticking sound. it smokes from the header to, alot.
please give me some advice on what to do before my 400ex blows up!!! i tried the float needle theres nothing wrong with it.
If this is beating a dead horse I apologize. Didn’t see much other than swapping stock xmr diffs. Thinking of putting a maverick diff in my xmr. Anyone done this? Got the kit and it requires cutting the support plate between the frame rails out. Definitely not a "bolt on" kit. Having a hard time hacking up the frame.
I know this isn’t an ATV/UTV tire question but there’s no "Trailer" forum so I’m hoping you all can help…
I’m planning a trip from Philadelphia to Windrock (TN) and am taking 4 quads with me on my Triton 4 Hauler. Currently it has 205×65-10 tires (bias ply) and am worried about the load + travel time (14hrs) on these small tires.
Any suggestions on tires and rims that I can upgrade to that will make it a better long hauler? Can I put a different size / configuration on that will make it safer?
Okay so about a week ago i finally after several years of wanting one picked up my first ATV. After about 2 weeks of looking over offerup and craigslist i was able to find a 2003 Honda TRX400ex for just $1000! With all papers and ready to go (for the most part) guy sold it to me not running and needing a few components to be reassembled. Well after a new spark plug and some fresh gas it was abe to fire up with ease! Took it to a semi local off road park and definitely got a good feeling for it. What a blast!
Now im not new to small engines as i have been around Vtwins for the better part of about 8 years (had a Shadow1100, just recently traded it in for a Harley) and am a fully certified auto mechanic. Always been the kid that would buy stuff just to take it apart. haha
Well have a few questions to ask but i will definitely post in the correct forums.
I just purchased the e track system for my enclosed trailer, I purchased 4 8 foot sections to run the lenth of the trailer and bought 20 hooks for it, i will just mount the strap over the tire.
How i seen there is wheel net available for it.
Anyone ever use the wheel nettire strap for ATV?
they come in different sizes in DC Cargo Mall website. not sure what size would work with ATV’s.
Or would the straps on all 4 tires work just as well?
I have a 05 400ex.the top end was just built last week.now i am trying to get the carb strait.k&n filter and air box has many holes drilled in the top.when I first got it I was told it was a 440 and it ran like crap.i put 440 jets in the carb.i got it to run way better.well it was stock.i rebuilt the motor and left the jets in the carb.now it spits a little when cold .when its worm it is missing a little when almost wide open.what size do I really need? And just a FYI I’m in Alabama +650 elevation.
Well, I’ve read that for my specific model (2015 XP 1000 Touring) and similar models, the 28" Kenda Bearclaw HTRs will rub pretty hard, especially when riding two-up. I will put on the 2" lift kit in the spring, so have some time to try to get this right before then.
I’m pretty convinced from what I’ve read that most folks, with even just a 2" lift, experience axle binding or breakage eventually if they don’t replace the OEM with a heavier duty axle with more angle ability. While I don’t/won’t ride mud, I do ride a bit fast and like some rough and rocky terrain once in a while.
I’ve ready many posts about the various axles on various threads, but not really arriving at a conclusion yet what’s best for my situation. It looks like one can pay as much as $2,000, or as little as $1,000 (possibly less) for a full set front/rear. Obviously I don’t want to pay more than I have to, but am willing to pay to get the right tool for the job and try to avoid an issue. So I’d like to hear opinions based on your knowledge, for my riding style, which brand is best – e.g. Cobra, Gorilla, Highlifter Pro, Rhino(see below), Other?
On a related thread, bp405 stated "You are correct sir. Rhinos don’t have the reputation as being a good axel for machines with lift kits. Even though they are sold as part of some lift kits superATV sells. Cobras, Taylor’s, Gorillas, and HL pro series axels work best on lifted wheelers." I’ve read that elsewhere too, though I’ve heard they are rather good on non-lifted…
