So I know the ’15 1000s have the hot exhaust issue and mine was apparently manufactured after the recall. So it should already be done. I know that’s been beat to death on here so I wont go into that. However I was out riding the other day and had it out for a good hr or so of constant riding. Started to smell coolant every once in a while and when I did the temp was at 199-200. This happened several times. Seeing as it was close to first service I went ahead and took it to dealer. Got a call today saying they couldn’t find anything. Just wondering if this just might be due to engine break in? All the fluids seem to be normal and can’t see any sign of over flow or leakage.

I’ve been doing more general maintenance on the Traxter now that it’s in working order. One on my list is removing the spark arrestor on the exhaust, and has been an absolute pain to get out. I tried with a normal box wrench, and stripped part of it out. I then tried vise grips and still giving me trouble; even after shooting WD-40 up and around it. Anyone got suggestions? I’m sure PFPKD3 has some input on this matter. Thanks!

Hey so just started browsing as i’m in the market for a new quad and came across this forum and what seems to be a lot of issues with the 2016 model year after the redesign.
1. Cold starting issues which is due to a compression spring which after the recall does this fix that issue? Im in northern Canada so this is a big deal to me.
2. air filter allowing dirt past, and I haven’t seen a solution to this issues yet…
3. Smoking on start up, which I still don’t know what causes this and what the remedy is.
So should I not buy a 16? i’ve owned an 08 and had no issues with that but no longer have it, but seems these 16s are not worth buying if its this much of a hassle.

I’m looking for skid plates for my G1 Outlander Max. Seems like the top 3 choices are Ricochets, IronBaltic (HDPE), or BRP skids.
I was ready to pull the trigger on some IronBaltics HDPE skids. Then I learned that Riccochets are made just 4 miles from where I work. (No Shipping!) Now I’m considering picking up the ricochets, and slapping a thin sheet of either HDPE or UHMW on top of the aluminum. Seems like it’d be the best of both worlds.
Has anyone done this with their aluminum skids?
Any reason why you wouldn’t?
New here, not new to the atv world as far as tuning an engine work goes in fairly decent. Clutching little rusty yet, got a grasp on it more with sleds. Hoping lighting is okay for now an does what I want it to do. I have 2 miles on it as I bought it last weekend. Snow still on the ground in my area. Got this more for mud nationals in hill city at quadna mtns had a blast there last year.
