A unique UTV that is both compact and affordable

With the UTV industry firmly entrenched in a horsepower war where bigger is almost always considered better, the diminutive Honda Pioneer 500 is something of a breath of fresh air.

Fast Facts
Engine: 475cc Single
Ground Clearance: 8.5 in.
Wheelbase: 73 in.
Curb Weight: 1,025 lbs
MSRP: $8,999

While a bigger, more powerful working UTV can be an enormous help on a jobsite or hunt camp, we shouldn’t overlook the advantages of the Pioneer 500. The biggest advantage is price. At $8,999, the Pioneer 500 is $1,500 less than the base Pioneer 700 and more than $5,000 less than the base Pioneer 1000. In terms of UTVs, it’s a relative bargain.

Winch Cable Snapped

This morning while plowing cab;e snapped… ProVantage 2500. 3/16" Cable. I am going to try and fix myself. Cut cable, put on new ferrule then crimp, but nobody around has the crimping tool I need. Just small ones. Has anyone here crimped without a crimping tool? Also, what is the best approach for cutting the cable to minimize fray. Thanks!

DIY Snorkel – 2016 850 XMR & other mods on the budget

I made my own DYI snorkel for 850 XMR. Thanks to other forum members pics and instructions, I was able to get all my parts from Lowes and HomeDepot. All in all, took be about 10hrs from start to finish.

Best part is I can remove the pod and have full access to fuse box if I need to.

Cost: $90 CAD.

More photos in my google album: https://goo.gl/photos/269ZJjps7himPtRo9

No ABS/PVC glue where the pipes coming out. Just very tight fit. I can remove the pipes anytime with some elbow grease.

About 0.25" clearance on both sides:

Other Mods that did not break my bank:

9" LED light bar (mounted to lower front bumper. No drilling into frame/bike. Used lower bumper mounting holes. Been submerged many times. Waterproof switch mounted on handle bars. All wires connected direct to 12v supply with seperate 10amp fuse.
TIP: I used crazy glue to seal rubber sleve to switch for 100% waterproof. All parts form eBay.
Cost: $45 CAD

Phone GPS mount
I used 1" RAM Mount ball) mounted on custom aluminum plate underneath the cover + X-GRIP with USB charger (eBay). I used it on my Grizzly and it holds the phone solid. Even on bumpy rides. Phone will be protected in waterproof case.
Cost: $30 CAD

KFI Tiger Tail (Canadian Edition – black)

Next:
Yamaha Grizzly style dry storage. Will be mounted on right side front fender. I am waiting for parts to come in. I will post photos once I install it.

New User

New User from MN. Purchased a 2013 Honda Foreman 500 off of eBay. It’s been a nightmare. Legal Bill of Sale contained no info. Found VIN under winch. VIN had a hole thru 4 of the 17 digits. Trying to find the engine model number, but not having any luck. Any astute individuals out there that can point me in the right direction to find that model number. When I spoke with Honda they said it might be on a metal plate or engraved into the motor. I’m thinking IF it’s a metal plate, that may be gone as well, since they did fine work on the VIN. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
