Oil and coolant types?

I recently read that Rotella T6 5W40 synthetic is a great oil for the Traxter engine and transmission. Anyone have experience with the best oil for these machines? Been using regular 5w40 oil, but thinking synthetic might be better for the tranny?

I’ve had mine about 2 years and thinking it’s about time to be changing the coolant even though it still looks and tests ok. Can’t find any info in the manual beyond "Can Am coolant", so wondering if it is something special, or if good ‘ol Prestone will work just fine?

Greetings from western Colorado!

Retired guy here. Been riding dirt bikes for 50+ years and swore I’d never get a machine with 4 wheels. Well, I’m here to say that I have broken that oath. And, thanks to the Mrs. for her encouragement, I sold my last two bikes and bought a 2016 Sportsman 450 H.O. Hate to admit it, but after 60 miles on the Roan Plateau Sunday, I kinda like the thing.
Anywho, I joined on to this outfit to garner some atv knowledge regarding accessories…winch, back storage, a cover and such.

04 Sportsman 700 Oil Leak

Hello,
It seems that I have a pretty good oil leak. It only leaks when it is running or just after but doesn’t leak when it is parked, except for the for the first 15 mins or so. its not coming from the top end, dry as a bone and I just did the stator and it was clean there. It almost looks like it is coming from under the clutch/belt cover. Is this a common area to get a leak?

Plow on Outlander 450 L

I’ve seen a lot of people in the forums that are satisfied with MotoAlliance Denali plows. Their site doesn’t say anything about working yet with 2016 Outlander 450 L model but wanted to see if anyone has tried yet? Was also looking to get the Viper Max winch.
Thanks in advance.

Warranty/Service Contract Transfer?

I bought my 2015 570 used from the original owner. It had less than 5 hours on it, I have since put 10 more hours on it. She had also purchased a Polaris warranty/service contract with the machine but she never took it in because the hours were so low.

I asked the dealer if the contract was transferable and he said it was, but they couldn’t do it; the previous owner and new owner have to fill out a form requesting the transfer. The dealer did provide the form.

I asked him if the time lapse from purchase to first service would affect the transfer; she bought it new in Oct 15 and I got it in Aug 16. He recommended I get the first service out of the way ASAP and then file the paperwork. His point being the failure of the original owner to get the bike serviced on time (not hours) but calendar days could be a reason for Polaris to just cancel the contract and leave me hanging.

He quoted me a price of $140.00 for initial service. I know what the manual says should be done at the first service, I did not ask what else they do at this service, if anything.

The original owner paid $1K for the contract and I figure if I can get it transferred it should be a good deal for me.

Anyone here ever transferred a Polaris contract like this and does $140 seem like a decent price for an initial service.

Opinions of various UTV models/brands?

Hello everyone,

I’m doing a study on the side-by-side/UTV market and I’m interested in your opinions. It’s extremely quick and anonymous and I’d be happy to share the results with the community.

Also, as a small token of my appreciation I will be having a drawing among respondents for a $50 VISA giftcard for those interested. It’s not much but the most I can offer as a one person team.

The research isn’t for any of these companies, I am just curious to see the opinion of the brands and new models. Thank you very much for your help!
