Good afternoon Polaris ATV Forum members. I found this site today while searching for a solution for my 2007 Sportsman X2 800. I just got this machine a week ago. It’s had at least 2 and possibly 3 previous owners. Believe this or not, it only has 6.7 miles on it. From what I’ve been able to learn, the original owner won this machine through a Duck Unlimited raffle and basically stored it until last summer. It was then sold to the person I bought it from. The person I bought it from never was able to get it to run, he did get it to fire but was never able to get it to run long enough to operate. I have no idea what was done to it prior to my purchase however since it’s been in my hands I’ve drained and replaced the fuel, install a new battery and that’s about it.
When I turn on the key it seems to be charging the fuel delivery system or at least it sounds like it is activating it. I know it’s getting at least some fuel because if I grind on the starter for several seconds it backfires as soon as I turn off the ignition.
After spending a fair amount of time tracing the wiring coming off the throttle, on/off switch and throttle body I didn’t find anything corroded, broken, exposed or unconnected.
What I’ve been trying to avoid is digging into the throttle body and injector. Other than being able to clean them I really don’t have the knowledge or ability to accurately identity if something is wrong.
I’m reaching out to you guys to see if any body can point me in the right direction and more importantly steer me away from dead ends. Thanks a ton.
Hello all. I just bought a new 570 and there’s a ton of noise that sounds like slack in the drive line. Makes a heck of a racket, lots of clicking when I transition from gas to brake or when I just let off the throttle. Normal?
Long story short I picked up a 1991 Yamaha Big Bear 4×4 for $250 from a coworker. He told me he thought the u joint up front needed replacement. I pulled off the shield to further inspect the u joint and only fold some slight play. The thing that concerned me was how the yoke on the drive shaft seemed to have about a quarter inch of play (up and down) in it. Being new to owning and working on four-wheelers I don’t know exactly how things are supposed to be with these but the play in it concerns me. Should I be replacing the yoke and u joint to eliminate the chirping?
use my 420 around the ranch so lots of stop and go opening fences etc..
starts good, runs good at speed but when I roll to a stop or down shift to decelerate it wants to stall.
just put a new fuel pump but did not solve the problem.
Ok,, did my first long distance ride about 24 miles or so on the 570 the heat about roasted my right leg and added a thumb guard or extension that is suppose to be better on your thumb on the gas but it got me to thinking.
Does anyone make a trigger for the gas for the other side of the handle where you could pull it instead of pushing it with your thumb. I"m new, sure you guys have talked about this just seems to me would be a whole heck of a lot easier to pull instead of push.
Second I just ordered a 2" 50 foot roll of heat wrap going to try and solve this heat issue giving my leg a sunburn. GF on the 450 her’s did the same thing.
Had a blast got a little mud on them, know you guys don’t like them but added rims and tires 26 ripsaws on 14 inch rims went through everything on two wheel drive didn’t have to use the 4×4 but our speed don’t go much over 35 mph .
Looked at aftermarket exhaust dear god I can buy chrome headers for the dragster cheaper than I can buy a simple muffler for one of these things. LOL
If you have done something other than wrap trying to solve the heat issue, PLEASE post some photos so I can get a idea of what to do. Thought about having a plate made with Luvers in it just closing that hole up.
Still think the pull trigger would be a good idea.
I’m looking to buy a trailer to be pulled by my Grizzly. I won’t use it a ton, but getting stuff back and forth to the blind and bringing in deer from the field would be the main uses. Based on that I won’t use it a lot I’m hoping to not spend a lot. Does anyone have any suggestions?
So i just bought a 2005 polaris sportman 400 and took it out on a trial for the first time. Its was doing really good for a long time. Right about 40 miles into my ride the check engine HOT light came on and i looked down, and there was anti freeze shooting out of the little hole on the cap of the resivior tank. When i turned the atv off i didnt seem to here the fan power down, almost as if it might not have been running. What could this be?
Ok my sons 2014 ds90 front sunspenion is worn out. It needs new bushings for for where the spindle turns (like a king pin) when turning left to right . It’s been greased every second ride .
Anyways brp only sells the whole control arm at $250 each what a f*cking joke!
Is there a aftermarket company that sells them? I need left and right set, I called brp customer service and he was useless and said I had to buy the whole arm.
Someone obviously makes them for brp they come out nice and easy there not pressed in
A guy by the name of John at ATV Guru has my bike is using it to build a front bumper for the Scrambler 1000xp. Should be ready in the next month. If you check out his site you can see the type of work he does and get an idea on price. He builds some nice bumpers with a lot of options. As soon as it is done I will post pictures. I can’t wait!!
