Brake wear

New to ATV’s and I am in the market for a used Sportsman. At how many miles will the brakes need service? I see some nice machines with 2000 miles and wonder if they will need brakes or should they have already been serviced?
I know it depends on driving habits and conditions but in general how long do pads last?
TIA

Hello from MN

Good afternoon everyone,
New to the forum and ATV’s. I purchased a 2009 Hawkeye for my wife with 280miles on it and now in search for one for myself.
I would like mine to be a 450 to 700. Curious if anyone has a check list or suggestions on what to stay away from in regards to years or models?
EFI would be preferred. EPS would be awesome but I have a budget of $5k.

Magnum 325-500 engine swap

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this so if not please let me know and I will move the topic. There is a guy locally that has a Magnum 325 and 500 for sale together just needs an engine swap. The 500 does not have a motor but is otherwise sound, the 325 was rolled some frame and suspension is shot but supposedly the motor and transmission are fine. I have seen posts on swapping a 500 motor into a 325 chassis and it can be done with some mods. How about the other way , putting the 325 motor and transmission into a 500? I know the cooling systems are different but other than that would it be worth it. Not looking for a speed demon just a winter project and something to scoot around the hills.

Thanks

Hi from Oz Down Under

Hi All
Just checking in from Australia
Just bought my first Canam Maverick and what a weapon it is.
I Scored a 2014 1000 with DPS and with only 4.6 hours from new, so right place right time.

I have been reading some of your forums and have posted some questions about accessories yesterday,, and hope to get some direction on where and what to buy !
There is a lot to read and a lot of knowledge on your forum which is invaluable to a new owner,,, Like me !

I am looking forward to kitting my new WMD out with all the fruit so if anyone can help with info on where i can get the right stuff at the right price I would really appreciate it,, its cheaper to buy and ship from the US than in Australia even with our terrible dollar and you guys have it all available at your fingertips.

The first few things I am after are some 2" ali wheel spacers and a Half windscreen and a spare drive belt.

I look forward to reading and learning and if anyone can help that would be appreciated.
cheers
JimG

New 400EX Owner

Just picked up an ’02 400EX on Sunday.

I’ve been eyeballing quads for a while, but never had anywhere to store it until recently.

Found this quad in GREAT shape, with tasteful mods, owned by a mature guy who knows a ton about quads, and just toys in general.

I checked the fluids, cables, bushings, bolts, and electrical before taking it for a little ride Sunday evening.

It ran like a champ!

Now I need to strip it down, clean it up a little, change the oil, oil filter, spark plug, clean the air filter, grease the bearing and lube the chain.

Looking forward to years of fun with this thing!

Mods are listed below.

If anyone has any tips, tricks, suggestions, or just wants to say hi/welcome, I’m all ears! (well.. all eyeballs I guess)

Mods:
• FMF power bomb header
• FMF power core 4 exhaust
• Aluminum air box with battery relocation
• Twin air filter
• Easton bars and Easton risers
• PRO armor front bumper
• PRM aluminum swing arm skid plate

Rear Rack Options

Been looking for a sporty rear rack for my 2013 1000. I’ve been looking at the 715001360 OEM accessory rack but everywhere it’s $195.00. Not really wanting to pay that much for something so simple. Has anyone made anything like an off-the-shelf 6-pack rack on an adapter plate? Or is there any cheaper option for the OEM part?
