Is the Visco Lok on its way out???

We Can Am owners love our machines both good and bad but this POS Visco Lok has to go. How hard could it be for Can Am to develop a electric locker??? My dealer just replaced another front diff that completely failed on my 16′ 1000R. The locking function was smoked (again), I dont mud this thing its bone stock with 1800 miles trail ridden only.

To my point just Google visco lok problems or failure and there are a ton of reports, BRP has done nothing about it. I cant imagine owners having to pay out of pocket for a new visco lok when its out of warranty.

another tire wheel ???

My friend and I both bought Defender Max HD8 a few weeks ago but he is going to install new wheels and 30" tires. He told me I could have his factory back wheels and tires if I wanted to install them on the front of my defender. Has anyone ever tried to install a factory set of 14×11 on the front?

Motorcycle/ATV jack vs. ATV stand

Just curious what people here on the forums are using to lift their ATV in their shop. I’ve been getting by with just a basic floor jack but I don’t love it, and I’m not 100% sure I trust it for everything. Curious what people here are using and if there’s any strong reason to go with an ATV stand as opposed to a regular motorcycle jack.

98 Grizzly timing Chain questions

Looks like I need to replace the timing chain on my Grizzly. I checked the timing and found that it is out probably two teeth on the top sprocket. A few questions:

  1. Do I replace just the chain or do I have to replace both sprockets and the chain? I know on a car you always do it in a set. I am just not sure about these machines.
  2. Is there a good aftermarket set or do I just go back with Yamaha parts. The chain is about $25 on yamaha parts house. Yamaha #94591-40126-00
  3. On the cylinder head cover, I noticed there is not a gasket on it when I took it apart. Didnt see one on the parts break-down either. Surely this is not just metal-to-metal with no gasket. Use RTV when I go back with it? I just dont want it to seep oil down onto the cylinder.

  4. Anything else I need to be replacing while I have this broken down?

Thanks,
Kirk

Winter startup

Starting the Grizzly up and letting her idle for a few mins during the winter ok to do?
Unable to ride, just figure it will allow battery from getting drained.
How many start there’s up from time to time while not using?
