I went to replace an air filter on a ds90. One of the screws would not remove and would only spin. In order to make the situation easier on me I decided to remove the entire air filter box so I could work on it easier. The metal sleeve insert that the screw goes into was spinning. I tried everything to keep it from spinning but nothing worked. I eventually drilled it out and replaced the screw with a nut and bolt. When I went to install the air box back in place another metal sleeve starting spinning and now wont tighten down! Is this a problem on can-am’s cause I may not buy another one if I can’t do simple maintenance without problems. Is there a simple solution to keep these things from spinning?
Thanks for the help.
I got a 2000 Sportsman 335 that is always having a dead battery. I got roughly 1.82 amps of current draw when bike is off. When I unplug the red and black wire from voltage regulator it goes to roughly 0 amps. Bought new volt reg. and still have that same draw?? Anybody got and suggestions??

Hello everyone! I’ve really tried finding an answer in the existing threads with no luck. My problem is my fan comes on often exactly as I switch my headlight on! Sometimes it turns on with the lights off when its supposed to but I’ve noticed its not coming on when it should( ive had it long enough to know when it should)at which point I then turn on the headlight and it turns right on! And it will run a full cycle when its actually hot. If its not hot and the fan turns on with the headlight it’ll go out rather quickly. Do I have a bad ground??? Also My oil light has been acting up too. Not turning on always when I turn the key on and sometimes it just flickers when I’m riding. I don’t want to hard wire it as I want to keep it original. Thanks so much for any help!
Fixing this for a relative. Complained of squeeling noise at idle from clutch, will not shift out of gear and atv creeps at idle. Idle speed is fine. I know it’s been rode hard and not taken care of. Someone has had the clutches apart since the last time I worked on this machine due to abusing the atv is what I was told.
I noticed the genuine Polaris ebs belt was close to 1/4" above secondary. There was 1 shim in the secondary, not sure if 1 is the norm or not? Other than that the secondary seemed ok including the one way ebs bearing.
The drive clutch weight pins are showing some wear, I can feel worn grooves in them where the weights rode on them, they will need replacing. The one thing I’m not sure of is the grooved center part of the drive clutch where the belt rides. I assume that is a 1 way bearing as well??? With the clutch off the atv I try to turn the grooved center piece I can only get it to turn about 1/8th of a turn one way. It takes two hands just to get it to turn that 1/8th. Is this normal? EDIT: I don’t think the grooved spins at all, it just felt like it but it was my fingers slipping over the grooves. Normal?
I have a 2011 sportsman 850 EFI, two weeks ago I washed it and after it ran fine back to the shop when I pulled up I saw that my led light bar wash flashing but the toggle was off. Cut the toggle on and off and it cut off. Went to crank it yesterday and the battery was completely dead so needing a new one anyways I replaced it. Engine light appeared and the idle was not right. Got it to stay running but from 800-2300rpm it acts like it going to cut off and spits and sputters awful. When it gets above 2300 it sounds fine. Trying to drive it and it will barely run. Also opened my air box and there was excess of oil in the bottom of the box??? Any ideas on these, maybe something electrical and fuel related?
Hey folks, I recently replaced the starter solenoid and starter on my sportsman 500 because the solenoid was clicking. I got the new solenoid hooked up with the fusible link wire going to the post with the 12v battery cable and both ground wires/switches on the lower posts. Solenoid is grounded to the frame and 12v is getting from the solenoid ground and the battery so the solenoid is receiving 12v. When I turn on the key I get a display but when turning to start I get nothing. Does anyone have any ideas. I am at a loss. I have a FSM and a meter but I don’t even know where to go from here. Thanks in advance.
