Are there different yellows body plastics?

I’m replacing my daughter’s 2005 Recon ES green plastics to yellow. About a month ago, got lucky and picked up a yellow front fender like new for $10 on Craigslist. Recently, I ordered the yellow side body covers (Starburst yellow) from Parzilla and just received them, but when I put them next to the yellow front cover it’s more of an orange yellow does not quite match. Are there different yellows? Is it normal for body plastics to quite not match?
My front fender is not sun faded it’s like new.

What do you drive?

The thread "Searching for new truck" got me thinking about what everybody drives. So, I’ll start.

I have two trucks- an 04 Ford F350 Superduty, 4WD, 6.8, 6 speed/4:30’s. 46,000 miles.

And a 75 GMC. My great uncle bought it new in August of 75, and it has stayed in the family. I acquired it about 3 years ago. 350/4 speed, full time 4WD, 58,000 original miles. My cousin (son to my great uncle) had it repainted and a few other things done, but it is otherwise original. I’ve got a lot of childhood memories from this truck, and it is a real joy to now own it.
Runs great, everything works.

Tire options

I’m looking at two tire options. One is meant for a side by side but seems to fit my needs very well. The other seems like my best option.

1) My needs are great resistance to desert tire punctures.
2) Traction on hard pack and loose gravel/rocks
3) DOT approved radial tire
4) Competent sand traction
5) Great wear for street use

I really don’t want to increase my final drive ratio or rotational mass unless it is the only way to accomplish the above requirements and that IMHO is a negative for the Kanati Mongrel 27X14 Smallest 14" tire they offer in this model.

What I’m looking at is the 27×15 Kanati Mongrel radial tire or the Sedona Rip Saw 26X14. I really am open to any ideas but they must meet my above mentioned requirements.

I think that I like the 10 ply rating of the Mongrel but am concerned about the higher final drive ratio of a 27" tire and the additional weight of a 10 ply rated tire.

I have already established on this forum that my use of an ATV is at best ATV abuse. So modifications that add to that abuse must be offset by benefits that are needed.

Factory temp gauge

Didn’t see a form on this and thought it was interesting. I recently found that you can put a gauge cluster out of a RZR in your sportsman and get factory temp gauge, and volt meter. The cluster I used is Polaris PN: 3280607. It came out of a 2015 RZR 900S. Miles and hours both stayed the same as what was on the RZR. Whole swap out took less than. 5 min and was 100% plug and play. No wiring, drilling, cutting, or reprogramming.

Terminal board wiring – 97 sportsman 500

Hi everyone. New here and just picked up a 97 sportsman 500. Runs like a champ, 1800 miles. Needed a new dash lights, rear rack and rear mud guard, so I pulled all the plastics so I could sand and paint a matte black, when I noticed some wiring issues.

There were 3 wires not connected to anything and the 12V plug isn’t connected. – 1 wire is a blue wire that’s connected to ground below the terminal board (voltage regulator maybe?). This has a large male spade connector.
– 2 wires are joined together and connected hot to the terminal board (red wires). 1 has a large male spade and the other has a female spade.

1) where does the 12V aux port connect to?
2) what could these wires have gone to? Winch?
Do any wires on this machine use male spades? All I see are females and the males are on the terminal board.
3) does the speedo or awd button light up? Cuz mine don’t – but most of the dash lights were burnt out.

2016 DPS 650 Winch install

Hello,

New, Cam-Am owner and just picked up a 2016 DPS 650 and want to install a winch. I’m thinking of a Superwinch 3500.

I’ve installed winches before on a pickup truck but never on a quad.

I understand this comes with the winch plate installed and the pre-cut hole to mount the roller fair lead. Seems pretty simple.

The one thing that I’m unsure of is how to run the power cables. I’m sure they need to go through a switched relay or solenoid or something.

I’ve done some internet searches and can’t seem to find much directly related to this model.

Any suggestions on how to do this?

Thanks!!!!!

John

Searching for new Truck…

Last year I picked up an older trailer ( 76 Vanguard, second owner!!!!) and towed it with my modified Xterra. We bush camp of the beaten trail where we can do pretty much what ever we want… Now that I have the newly rebuilt Honda, I will need a truck to take the quad and trailer to the bush.. I’ve considered used, and new trucks.. Leaning towards the new… I’m an Import man thru and thru, however the Ram Rebel has caught my eye with great reviews! The new Titan is looking pretty good as well.

Anyone care to chime in on a Ram Rebel, 2016-2017 Titan, or new GMC Sierra??

Those are my top 3 I’m going to look at. Keep in mind, I have yet to test drive anything. That will be later next week, when I get home from away working.

Thx.
