2013 Polaris Ranger 800 Photo

I am trying to get a good photo of the underside of the dash on a 2013 Polaris Ranger 800. One of these was involved in a fire and we are trying to eliminate the wiring under the dash as a possible cause. We will pay for your time to take a photo and send it to us. Please give Don a call at Talbott Associates Inc.

2006 Outlaw 500 knocking

Hi, I am new to the forum. I just bought a 2006 Outlaw that is having some issues. One of them is a loud knocking coming from high on the engine. When I first start it, everything sounds normal, but if I rev it to higher RPM’s the knocking will start and continue while the quad is running even at idle. The knock is loudest on the cam chain side high up at the cams. Someone told me the valves may need adjusted (but it starts easy). I am looking for opinions on what this may be and I am leaning toward the cam chain needs to be replaced???

looking for help…

thanks!

New member – 2002 Scrambler 500 – Want to freshen up

Hey guys, just picked up an ’02 Scrambler. First time on an auto quad, but have to say pretty fun quad. Bought it for my wife but I’m sure I’ll end up riding it more.

From what I can tell it’s a solid machine but I do have some questions and looking for some advice. Please feel free to share whatever may help me out and I’ll continue to look around this forum as well.

-What do you guys run for fluids, brand, weight etc? There is Engine oil, coolant, drive differential fluid for hubs…missing anything?

-How many filters are on this quad besides the air filter and one engine screw on oil filter?

-Suggestions for replacing plastics? My front are good but rear is cracked and best price I found was new for $250. Checked eBay and nothing good there.

-Decals: Mine are jacked up, best way to take them off? Any certain years have nicer decals than another? Cheapest place to buy them? Any decent aftermarket ones available?

-Lastly, noticed my front left hub is leaking some type of fluid. Is this a common problem and is there an easy fix like a seal or o-ring that I should try to replace?

Sorry for the loaded post!

2014 TRX90 carb interchange question

Hey guys, I was hoping someone on here could give me some advice. I recently bought a used 2014 TRX90 for my son and plan to give it to him at Christmas. The thing is in awesome shape, but the previous owner let it sit for about 7 months, and it has idle issues, etc. I suspect the carb is gummed up pretty bad.

I have a rebuild kit I’ll be going over it with this week, and I’m hoping that will solve the problems, although I don’t mind purchasing a new carb if I have to. Only problem is the OEM carb for this model is out of stock everywhere I have looked. I’ve had one on backorder through Motosport.com for well over a month.

They do, however, have a carb in stock for the 2012 and older models. The part numbers are different, but I thought the carbs on these were pretty much the same dating years back? Can anyone tell me for certain if a carb from a 2012 will bolt right up to a 2014?

I’m trying to get this thing running like a top before Christmas.

Thanks!!

Won’t idle when cold

2010 Sportsman 500 HO 4×4

Now that I have a direction to go with my exhaust, I am going to need to figure out why my 4 wheeler is so cold natured. When it is first started, it will die unless choked all the way and you hold down on the gas. I don’t see any smoke (or smell oil) out of the exhaust.

It almost seems like the idle needs to be turned up a little but I can’t see an idle screw. The guy at the Polaris dealership said that my bike was EFI but if it has a choke, doesn’t that mean it is carbed? Also, I don’t hear a fuel pump whine which makes me think that the pump is either bad or it has a carb.

Another Polaris tech said the spark plug could be going bad, causing the engine to not want to stay running until the heat/compression helps with combustion. I have a spark plug and will try to get it swapped out today or tomorrow depending on what all I have going on. Seems like a long shot to me, but doesn’t hurt anything to slap a new plug in there.

So to sum it up, once it is up to operating temp, it starts on the first crank, and it doesn’t lose any top end power when riding… just doesn’t want to stay running before coming up to temp.
