2003 Honda Rancher 4WD leaking gas

Leaks gas out of the overflow tube on the bottom of the bowl.
Had a friend rebuild the carb, still leaks. Replaced with new carb and didn’t have much gas so I put in the little I had. Fuel lever on reserve and it started and ran great no leaks, used it 2 or 3 times for short drives in a 2 week period, no leaks. Wifey gets some fresh non ethanol gas so I put some in just until the fuel gauge started to register, maybe a half to 2/3 of a gallon. Turned fuel lever to on instead of reserved, took for a drive to bring garbage out. Parked and checked for leaks, none. 2 hours later I take the dogs out and smell gas as soon as I opened the door. Puddle of gas again leaking from overflow, turned fuel lever to off. Got up the the next AM and the gas had completely leaked out. How can it still leak if the fuel valve is off? Could the petcock (fuel valve) be bad? I did clean out the gas tank while my friend rebuilt the first carb, there was rust from the fuel gauge. I cleaned up the rust and replaced the screen/filter with a new one. Any ideas I am out of hair to pull out?

2004 400 AT Error codes

I am stuck. I have owed this ATV for six years and it has ran perfect since I rebuilt the top end when I first bought it. Had some carb trouble due to bad/old gas. Took it to a local small engine shop and had them rebuild the carb, now it runs normal without gas flowing out of the overflow like before. However, now it has an error code and only drives in the fail safe mode. Equivalent to first gear and sputters when put in reverse. So I do some digging around on here, find the repair manual and realize the system should have be re-initialized after the carb was taken off. So I read the instructions for how to do this and begin to attempt. The initial setting procedure states the shift indicator should display N or D or R, but mine just flashes "–" no matter what reset or diagnostic steps I try from the repair manual. Please help.

*Note: The "–" blinks 6 times and that code is the swash plate sensor. Should I replace or check connection before proceeding. The error code retrieval procedure was done by the shop and I haven’t been able to get it to display anything else since then.

New Brunswick men arrested after going through McDonald’s drive-thru on a sofa pulled by ATV

Quote:

The two ‘intoxicated’ men were arrested after police say an officer spotted the couch being towed behind an ATV.

MIRAMICHI, N.B.—Two New Brunswick men have been arrested after allegedly going through a McDonald’s drive-thru on a couch. Miramichi police say an officer spotted the couch, being towed behind an ATV, at 3:19 a.m. Thursday in the drive-thru. Cpl. Lorri McEachern says the driver of the four wheeler took off after the officer turned on the lights atop his cruiser, stranding the two “intoxicated” men outside the restaurant. She says the driver raced through the parking lot, across the highway and onto the frozen Miramichi River, still towing the couch through much of his escape. Two local men, aged 28 and 39, will face yet-to-be-determined charges. McEachern says it is illegal to tow a couch through a drive-thru, but the two men were wearing helmets.

Sounds like it is right out of the Bob and Doug McKenzie playbook.

2007 outlander 400 no start

What’s up guys I am working on a 2007 can am outlander now that won’t start. I gave the carb a good cleaning, I also put a new plug in. After I put the new plug in it did start and idle ok, not perfect but ok. Now two Days later again it won’t start at all. I verified that it does still have spark.

When I crank it does smell like it’s getting fuel. But I have not pulled the fuel line off the carb yet to verify the pump is pumping gas to the carb. I will today.

What would you guys recommend my next steps be. Getting parts around here isn’t easy so I want to make sure I know what’s wrong before ordering.

Thanks

Replace bolts or seal the holes?

I’ve got a Honda rancher 350 that I just replaced the top end on. I was setting the timing and the little cap got stripped so I had to cut a slit in the it to get it off. so now the o-ring wouldn’t sit entirely flush with it because of the slit. The cap is $20 brand new and I can’t find any used ones.
I also broke a bolt for the valve cover. with is also too expensive to order.

I have some permatex high tempature gasket maker/ sealant. Can I put a very, very generous coat of that around the valve cover and fill the bolt hole with it?
And can I put a very generous coat of hondabond case sealant on the o-ring and cap and call it okay?
I usually ride this bike like a boat so I need it waterproof
