ATV Wrap

I have searched on this site looking for a thread on wraps or hydro dipping of plastic. If someone has a link, then please send me or alternatively, I would like to hear from anyone (pros and cons) on wraps and/or hydro dipping.

Anyone doing it?

Just wondering if anyone else has modded their 300fw for other purposes other than bogging? More like an all around bike. Good in the mud and can still cruise at 40mph and do 150 mile trip in a day. A bike that has bigger tires but nothing crazy, more power, better suspension, better brakes, 350d rear end etc etc etc. Just an all around better 300fw…… be interested in seeing some pics of machine that are built for other purposes than bogging and water wheeling. Not that there is anything wrong with it at all. I’d like to build up mine since it is in a major overhaul mode right now and I am (my family) the original owner. It’s a 1999 fourtrax 300fw and I love seeing what everyone else has done.

What should I do? no Forward no reverse

My 2006 TRX 400 FA Model 2778 gears do not work
Maintenance: Change oil, differential and gear levels are good and maintained. Use premium gas
1. Ride less than 25 hours a year.
2. 2015 gear would not go in reverse unless engine was warmed up and run in neutral for 10 minutes.
3. Check all fluids and and nothing was low.
4. Rode at an quad park outing this July for 6 hours everything worked. Except for when first started wouldn’t go in reverse until warmed up.
5. Twice the quad got buried in a water/mud ditch. Stalled out but pulled out and started up. Cleaned air filter at camp and ran great.
6. Rode in September for 20 minutes to keep battery charged. No problem.
7. Now it wont go in drive or reverse. Tried in manual shift and also in 4 wheel drive. Nothing.
8. I can do basic repairs but pulling gears and transmission way over my head.
9. It has 132 hours and 480 miles on it.
10. The oil light comes on to change for maintenance.
What should I do? If it cost me $500 or $1,000 to repair. I will have to turn around and sell it to pay off my debt.

Offset question

Hey guys. Excited to be part of the forum and really enjoy seeing all the mods done to everyone’s rigs. So I have a 1999 fourtrax 300 4×4 that was purchased new by my folks. It was barely used. Mostly for hunting and trail riding at the cottage. It might see 200 mIles a year if it’s lucky. But the time has come to do a major overhaul since it’s never had anything but oil/filter done and valve clearance. It’s in great shape for it age but has never had any major service. I’ve ripped it apart and will be replacing all front end components. The front brakes are absolutely toast and not even worth rebuilding. Damage is from water. So a brake disc conversion is being ordered. I know I need 12" rims to make it work so I’m ordering some itp steel rims but my concern is what offset is needed on the front and rear?

Thanks in advance.

Sportsman 400 limiter issue

I have a 1994 Polaris Sportsman 400. I purchased it about 3 weeks ago and have been doing things like new plug, new air filter, checking all the wire connections that the circuit board.

While I was cleaning all the connections, I noticed that the black wire running to the rev limiter (mounted right above the CDI), and a solid green wire was disconnected. So I connected them on the board where they are supposed to go. Then i started the ATV and it idled rough. When I press the throttle, carb sounded as though it was getting too much air and hesitated and acted as though it wanted to die. If I pressed the throttle and left it pressed, the engine would die.

So I disconnected the black wire running to the CDI from the circuit board, and started the engine, and it runs perfect. Press the throttle and it revs perfect. I thought the limiter was just that, a limiter. So why would it affect the engine in this way? For now I will just leave t disconnected as the limiter is not a vital part, but I wanted to see if anyone else has seen this problem before.

Now to the green wire. When the green wire is connected to the circuit board, the reverse indicator is always on no matter what gear it is in. When i disconnect the green wire, the reverse indicator goes out and only comes on when it is in neutral. using a meter on the reverse indicator terminals, when the green wire is connected, the indicator is getting 6 volts constant in all gears, and 12V when shifted into reverse. When the green wire is disconnected, the indicator is getting 0 volts constant and 12V when shifted into reverse. anyone seen this before?

Straightneing out the roll cage

I rolled my commander before I even bought it. (See pic) Thankfully did minimal damage. The roll cage is cocked to the passenger side. I am thinking about chaining it down and hooking a come along up to the top of the cage and pulling it back straight. Any ever had any luck doing this? Tips appreciated.
