intro: Alasdair from Scotland.

Hi there I’m a newbie from Scotland.
Retired psychiatrist.
Recreational deer stalker (with rifle only in UK!!) and fly fisher.

Just acquired my first Can-AM – Outlander L 570 DPS Max in green.
Had to be a Max as I wanted to be able to carry a pillion passenger! (stalking buddy, wife, grandchildren etc.)

I have a daughter in Berkeley Ca., so visit there from time to time and interested in retail outlets for quad/shooting/fishing related "toys" in Bay area!

Contemplating getting a set of Apache tracks for snow and heather peat bog. So, can anyone tell me the overall dimensions of a Max fitted with tracks – I’ll need to work out just how big a trailer I’d need to carry a Max with tracks on?

Alasdair.

2016 Grizzly 700 long term review

I’ve done a couple long term reviews on my previous Arctic Cats. It’s been a great way to track repairs and upgrades. Feel free to ask questions or give me pointers as I go. This is my first Yamaha since owning a 1995ish Wolverine. I’ve had Banshees and Blasters. I’m a former GNCC and Harescrable racer.
For the prior 13 months I’ve owned a 2015 Arctic Cat XR700. I have a long term review on it on another forum. Let’s suffice to say in the 13 months and 3800 miles I owned it left me seeking a new brand.
I purchased a Grizzly due to several of my friends owning them. Riding with these men allowed me to see some strong points of the Grizzly over the Cat. Better suspension, power and reliability stand out.
This thread is a great way for me to track how owning it goes. I hope to ride over 4000 miles on it in the next year. I have lots of parts on order for it. I’m sure I’ll be seeking input from this group for installs.
Feel free to jump in on any of my posts. I’m eager to learn from all of you.

2016 Honda Rancher Straight Axle

Hey guys very new here. Hopefully posting this right.

I have a 2016 Honda Rancher FM1. I spun the rear right side hub on the inner axle and it stripped both splines out. I have all my parts and should be able to tear into it this weekend. I have never done this before on this bike. So my question is how do I do it? Once I take both castle nuts off and both hubs will the axle pull right through from one side?

Thanks in Advance.

outlander a performance quad?

do you guys think an outlander is a performance quad??
i dont look at my 570 or a 1000 as a performance quad.these things are just too big and heavy.
i just cant see jumping on one of these and racing around a track with an outlander…maybe a renegade?
when i think of a performance quad i think of a kfx700, banshee,yfz450,400ex or something along those lines that are chain drive,2wd racers.
i think the outlanders have a performance motor but thats where it stops for me.
just wondering what yall are thinkin..
to me they are a utility atv.

2017 Renegade XMR 570 Wheel sizing

Hey everyone,

I ordered a 2017 Renegade XMR 570 (Impatiently awaiting it’s arrival), and am looking for a set of trail wheels and tires to put on my machine for the times I can get away with a little less aggressive tire. I would like to stick with a beadlock wheel, but it’s not absolutely necessary.

What I am having trouble finding is the bolt pattern, and any backspacing information I need in order to make sure I get the right wheels. I am considering either 12" or 14" diameter wheels, and recommendations on which size would be appreciated. I’ve read that with the 12" wheels, rocks and other stuff tends to get stuck between the wheel and control arm scratching the rim, does the extra room help prevent that?

Additionally, any recommendations on tire sizing, to go on the new wheels? The XMR comes with the 28x8x12 & 28x10x12 stock (Maxxis Mudzilla). I was thinking something like the Kenda Bearclaw HTR in 27x9x12 & 27x11x12 if I went with 12" rims, and 28x9x14 & 28x11x14 if I went with the 14" wheels, but I’m not entirely sure if either one will fit, so any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!
