Speakers for the ace

So yesterday I came across some speakers I had bought a few years back as an extra set I bought for my bike and figured what better use than use them on my ace.

They are 5.25 boss Phantom Skull speakers. Nothing high end but as I said I’ve had a set of these mounted in my fairing for years now and they sound good, even at 80mph and I haven’t any issues with them.

I was originally going to build a set of pods and mount them facing forward on either side of the seat but I would much rather have them in front of me.

I decided to mount them in the lower dash/fender area. I haven’t set it done this way yet and I’m sure some will say it’s not the best place for them but I believe they will be tucked in high enough to never have issues hitting the tires, especially when I have the lift and spacers installed.

So after a few hours, some pvc end caps and a bit of aluminum I camp up with these:

And where they will be mounted:

The plan is to install the speaker from the inside of the cab and the pod from the back side and sandwich the fender in the middle. The pod will be held by four 1/4-20 bolts and an additional 4 8-32 screws the will hold the speaker in as well. I will be using loctite and sealing everything up as I go.

Next it to pick out an amp and go from there.

LED Pod Light

Ok, I have been reading and searching and can’t find an acceptable solution, so here goes. I want to replace my pod light (high beam) with an LED so I have decent light for plowing. I have changed all the other lights out to LED (low beam, reverse and work lights) but can’t find anything that is bolt in for the pod on a 2017 Sportsman 570 SP, that looks factoryish. I did see a company that makes a mount and light for the 850 pod, and have sent them an email with no reply as to whether or not they make one for the 2017 570 pod. Anyone have a solution?
Thanks,
Kevin

Clutch cover help

Hi I’m new here and will be needing some help, I bought a 1998 Sportsman 500 new and still have it. It has 2000 miles on it and it’s like new. Never seen mud, snow, rain or darkness. Love that machine.
Well to get to the point, I just picked up a project a 1996 6×6 that has been abused. The primary has rubbed through the cover. I was wondering if I could get a updated cover that has more clearance or just live with what I can find. I am trying to keep this project as cheap as possible so I will be going used on most parts. I had to replace the inner and outer covers on my 98 because of heat warping. Towing a lawn roller in drive not low gear. Also wondering what years will interchange ?

thanks KK4

Xmr wheels

Hello all,

I’m trying to get some info and recommendations on new wheels for my 15 xmr 800. First, I know the factory xmr wheels are supposed to be 6 inches wide, but what is the factory offset? I’m wanting to go with a 7 inch wide wheel that will give me a wider stance. I have been looking at msa wheels, but I’m unsure of how their offset compares to the factory offset. Any input/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Grizzly Mods

Hi,
I have a 2012 450 Yamaha Grizzly and would like to increase power someway. I will disclaim this now that I can’t get a new bigger bike anytime soon. I’ve poked around these forums and read anything between bore kits, to upgrading your air intake and exhaust. I ride with engines much bigger than mine and can’t keep up very well. I’m a good rider so On the muddy and thicker trails I don’t have much trouble keeping up. I would just like to get a little bit of a boost in power and horse power so when the throttles are open I can keep up easier. Should I look into boring? Or other easier and cheaper mods? Or all of them? Also is there anything I would have to do with these power upgrades? Any input is welcome, I am still learning and not very familiar with a lot of this so bear with me. Thanks.

Frame difference?

Renegade to outlander….
Is there a difference in the actual frames?
I know the trailing arms are different and maybe sub frames due to different plastics but the the frames different?
2016 frames.
Also just noticed on the 2017 frames they changed the rear trailing arms.

Or if you know about older models as well. Thanks
