I guess I got hooked. I bought a 1988 trx300fw and loved it. Then I found a 1990 trx300 that had a "broken cam chain". I got it for $200. I dont know how the shop thought the chain was broken. I pulled the cover off and the cam bearing was destroyed. I’ve ordered a used top end off ebay to replace it. The oil filter was in correctly and the oil looks pretty old.
Based off seeing the remains of a liquid gasket material, I’m assuming someone has been in the top end. The bearing near the cam gear was fine. Could they have over tightened the cam chain and thus the far bearing went out?
The other thing is I dont want to disassemble the engine to clean it. Can I just flush it a few times?
I checked the oil filter and didnt find tons of aluminum but it was present. I also filtered the oil from the crank case and only found two small "chunks".
Thanks in advance
Hey all, just a question for you experience grizzly riders. I just purchased a 2016 Yamaha grizzly 700 a few months ago and wanted to upgrade my tires. I am a trail/mud/rock/snow just a general rider, i was thinking 28inch maxxis zillas as i know they’re light a fit like 27s or 27 inch mega meyhems. Will i need any clutch mods or will i be alright for power. If i do need any mods should i go with shims or a spring. The help would be greatly appreciated cause i know i will lose some power and i want to gain it back, that being said i want my clutch engagement to remain smooth and not jumpy. If i lose around a little top end that isnt a big issue just want the bike to run like stock ( have good power etc) thanks for your time guys
I just got the 400 running and took it out for its first run. The main problem is it will only change gears with the engine off. Just grinding noise while running. It shifts fine with engine off, sloppy but shifts. Is the problem with the shifter or the secondary drive? or are the shifter forks gone? Plenty of power in high and will stay still at idle

Hi there , friend has a rancher AT 420 that his wife uses around their farm, I’m no pro but he got a new one instead of attempting to fix and wants to sell me this one at a reasonable price that I can afford .
So the bike was parked up for a few months in his garage and it cranks and starts perfectly but when you Press the drive selector buttons ( up or down ) into drive or reverse nothing happens , there’s just a horizontal line on the screen " —- ". Does anyone know how to fix this ?

I sunk my 2016 Renegade Xmr this summer, done all necessary maintenance to get bike back running and its been running perfect ever since and still is! But i started to think about the cold weather now 0-10c here in Newfoundland,CA would it have any effect on the bike where it have been sunk? things freezing up is my main concern. nothing has happened as of yet but its stuck in my mind

I am in the process of changing the axle bearings on my 02 scrambler but the bearings I bought are regular ball bearings not the cone shaped ones that came out, can these be used if I remove the race? and how would I remove it?
2010 800r
What’s the trick to removing the clutch rollers? Both ends of the pin are the same size and there are no clips. There are little arrows but I’m unsure what they indicate. Do I just tap them out? Sorry I do not have the manual
