2004 sportsman 700 efi losing rpms

any help would be great. I have a 2004 sportsman 700 efi and yesterday plowing when it was cold outside it ran fine but when it started to warm up the engine dropped to about 700 rpms and woudls act like it was starving for fuel. I could shut it off and wait 10-15 min and it would start back up and run for a little while just fine but all of the sudden it would start running rough again. I replaced the fuel filter with no difference made. put some sea foam in the tank thinking water in the gas but it didn’t help. So i’m lost and confused now. would it be fuel pump?

Free Polaris 3XL Fly Jersey

I ended up winning a Polaris Jersey in the contest Fix My Toys put on. I only went with the jersey after confusing what prizes were available being it wasn’t clearly called out in the rules.

The last line of the post stated to let them know which helmet you wanted and they would send it out free of cost. After asking about the helmet I was told it was not included and was provided with a link to choose my prize from. I then asked for a jacket that was in the link they sent me only to be told it did not include jackets either.

Being I’m a big and tall guy I knew nothing in clothes would fit. So I just went with the jersey as to pick something.

All you have to do is give me your shipping address and I’ll ship it out for free.

Pioneer 1000 paddle shifting?

I am very close to buying a new 1000 and I hadn’t even thought about the paddle shifting option until the salesman mentioned it. I am not going to race or do any "hot rodding", and I just never thought about this option. Is there any chance that I’m making a mistake? I’ll mostly use it on rather easy trails and for work around my 10 acres. The option is not cheap at all.

I was also considering buying the windscreen, back panel, etc. from another source, but I’ve been warned that frequently these parts don’t fit well.

Comments on the paddle shift option and aftermarket parts would be appreciated. I am planning to have the dealer install the Warn winch.

sportsman 400 2-stroke big bore

Purchased a 94 sportsman 400 2-stroke ATV about a month ago. I know the ATV was used on the farm mainly, and does not appear to have been abused. The battery on it was dead, so I had it hooked up to my battery charger running on 12V @ 75 amps to start the ATV during testing. I replaced the spark plug and while I was doing that, I performed a compression test on it. The compression reading was 93PSI. I know the manual says that anything under 100 is under spec at sea level. My location is 4800 feet above sea level so I know that my readings will be a bit lower than the manual states. The ATV turns over and fires right up. Seems to run good, so I am not sure that I need to rebuild the top end.

However, since I know it might be in the cards, I am trying to see which route to go if I do need to rebuild it. I have found some 85mm Big bore kits that come with the head, piston and all gaskets online for around the same price as the stock 83mm top end kits. If I decided to go with the big bore, is there anything else that needs to be modified other than what comes in the kit?

Are the big bore kits worth putting on, and what kind of power increase can be expected with a 2mm oversize bore? The ATV is used for trail riding, hunting, and back country rides. I don’t bury it in mud, or race it.

Are there any down sides to going with a big bore kit over the stock 83mm bore?

Thanks for any help

3rd party snow plow

Looking for opinions on American eagle ATV snow plows? I Can get the complete set up for about 800. Also looking for any good reviews on any aftermarket plow’s or should I spend the extra cash and just get a Polaris plow? I’m trying to order today or tomorrow to make sure I can get before Xmas. Been paying to get driveway way done until I fix plow?

I do plan on buying a new 570 ranger in spring and putting a plow system on it ( so happy with a cheaper blade for this year)
In case it matters I’m driving a 2012 sportsman 500.

Help Deciphering Model Numbers

Hi all-

I am shopping for a used ATV. I am trying to learn up on Polaris models through the years and am trying to find general info like when which models came out, or generational changes, etc.. engine, chassis or trans milestones.

My use is as a utility quad to maybe plow snow with, ice fishing transport, dog training, maybe some groomed trails. No hard core trail or back country riding. Never owned a ATV but have owned and maintained motorcycles. Looking to stay more lightweight- 330, 400 or 500 sized model tops.

I have found a few places with some info, but most of it is either news models newer than 2009 or by model and year. Like these pages at PSN and ATVRiders.

ATV, UTV, SxS, Side x Side, Quad Sport Utility Models from Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Polaris, Can-Am, Arctic Cat, Kymco, Cobra, John Deere

I could not find much on these forums so I thought I would ask. Is there a sort of comprehensive guide to Polaris ATV’s through the years?

Some things I am looking to learn-
When did the switch from 2cycle to 4 cycle happen?
Are there preferred models over others?
How are parts availability for models through the years.
Are there real differences between say a Sportsman 400 and 500 other than the 100 cc’s?.
What really is the difference between the 500 and the 500 HO.

Thanks in advance
