86 TRX200SX No Spark and start button/power issue.

So a werid issue here…

I have power and my neutral light is lit up green, my start button does not work. I can jump the starter relay and starter works.

I have no spark if i try to pull or starter start, tried a known good cdi and coil and no spark.

Im thinking the stator or pick up may be bad?

A werid thing was i had no power to my headlight or netural light until i jumped the starter relay with a screwdriver.. now headlight and netural light work fine..

Loud Ticking

Hey all

I have been doing a lot of work to the ole’ 2010 Sportsman 400 (Hawkeye) lately. Got it mostly back together, still need a new prop shaft and put back on all the plastics. Started it up today and noticed this gawd awful ticking sound. It sounded like it was coming from the oil reservoir and when I removed the cap it gets louder. It doesn’t start as soon as the engine runs but about 30 seconds after. I have attached a video that captures what I am describing really well. (Remember it’s about the sound not the picture)

https://vimeo.com/195743268

While the bike was all apart I changed the oil even cleaned out the sump. I keep trying to create the air suction in the oil reservoir but can’t tell if I am doing it right as I don’t hear the sound that the book describes. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated!

One thing to note is that this thing has the roller clutch maybe it is just a reverberation from that? Never noticed it before tho.

Is it worth sinking money into a 25 year old atv?

I brought my 1991 Trailboss 350 4×4 into a local dealer to set up the carb. I suck at setting them up. I also had them go over the atv and give me a "grocery list".

They did not let me down. Here is the list:
Front wheel hub – guts are out of it, also need seals.
water pump leaking,
Top end – compression at 90 psi.
need new brake pads

Each of these are big ticket items and will cost me about $1000 in parts. More if I do not do the work myself.

The atv is paid for. Would you sink money into a machine this old?

All of the other work I can do. The question is – should I?

And, now the carb is finally set up.

Winch issues

Evening all, decided to join this fourm because of the treasure trove of info I find here just googling issues with my machine from time to time. Can’t find a solution to my newest issue so, here goes nothing. I have a 2007 grizzly 700 special edition with a warn 2500XT, recently purchased a plow with the amount of snow expected this year, we got hammered this week and the plow made quick work of it. Put the bike away and a few hours later I went to move it, no movement from the winch at all. I pull it off open it up and sure enough I cooked the motor, she’s pooched. Call a friend over that has a spare winch exact same model and everything, bench tested it to be sure, spools in and out perfectly. Great I said outloud, quick fix and I’m back to plowing, this time I’ll be a little easier on it. Wrong…. I install the winch Hook everything up, spool out works like a charm, hit the spool in button the winch starts to move then the screen goes black and the bike just dies. Over and over.
I’ve checked the rocker button with a meter it’s fine, contactor with a meter it’s also fine, pulled plastic wire clip with 3 white wires off the regulator and checked as read on these forms to make sure stator it good, its also fine. Checked all wiring for shorts, can’t find any. Bike runs and drives as it always has, but as soon as i hit that winch in button it kills the bike instantly. Very frustrated and have spent countless hours trying to pinpoint what the he’ll she wants with no luck.
Any insight will be greatly appreciated gents, thanks in advance!

Belt question

I just started pushing a snow blower with my 650 XT and as I suspected the stock belt isn’t liking it much. I want to get a spare/backup belt and was wondering if anyone had suggestions as which one to get. What I need is one that will be taking all it’s abuse at low speed under 3-4 mph pushing the blower.

2014 Tatou 4s Tracks

just new to the site. I just purchased a 2008 outlander 650 max 2-up. Now I just bought some 2014 Tatou 4s tracks used. They came off a 2011 outlander 800 2-up. Just wondering if the tracks brackets will work on my 650. Can’t find much on this on the net. Also not sure on how to install them. I want to make sure I do it right. Anyone now of web site I can check out or can help me out with this. Thanks
