so I was plowing snow with my 2014 outlander 1000 XMR, and I started hearing a clicking noise coming from the front of the quad when I would shift from forward to reverse. after a bit it turned into a grinding noise and my front wheels stopped getting power in 4X4. turned out that my front propeller shaft stripped its splines in the bushing attached to the visco lok differential. I load it into my truck and take it to my brothers house so I can use his heated shop to take the prop. shaft off. we just got hit with a blizzard so I backed into his driveway so the plow could get by on the street. his driveway had about 6 inches of snow in it I backed the quad off of the truck and couldn’t get any traction in 2 wheel drive so I’m pushing the quad backwards while my brother is giving it throttle in reverse the wheels are spinning and all of a sudden there is a loud snap, clunk, clunk, clunk from the rear end. the pinion broke 2 teeth off of the ring gear exactly like last time, the first time happened with just over 400 KM on it, this time there is just over 900 KM on the machine.
moral of the story is that R does not stand for Reverse, it stands for Repair.
the first pic is the ring gear of the first diff that broke and the second pic is of the second ring gear that broke. 3rd and 4th pictures are of the front propeller shaft and the bushing.
So I have been trying all day to figure this out by doing side by side picture Comparisons, and from what I can tell by the pictures is that my 2000 Scrambler 500HO 4×4 has the same frame as (or very little difference) as the 2015 Scrambler 1000 XP…. If I have to add tabs etc, it doesn’t look like it would be much trouble…. My reason for asking is that I absolutely hate the Fenders on my year and I would like to put the newer style fenders on mine…. Any input would be very much appreciated….
Hey everyone….Just getting back in the ATV world after a13 yr hiatus…. I’ve never owned a Polaris before…..I’ve found over time that the best place to find knowledge on the unknown is to join the forums….I hope to be helpful to somebody on here some day…. Hoonigan 4 Life….Keep Calm and Hoon On….
Been searching the site but can’t find the answer I’ve been looking for so this is my first post here.
I’ve got a 2010 400 HO that’s been pretty good to me until now. I’ve got the whole thing torn down tracing wires trying to trace a no-start condition. Replaced the solenoid because jumping it with a screwdriver got the engine to turn over but after replacing it I’ve got the same problem. I’m not going to throw money at parts to hope I get it right so what sends signal to the solenoid?
My key turns on the panel, it reads miles and all but just won’t turn the engine over. Everything else works on the bike so I’m missing something..What??
I’m guessing maybe key switch or the panel itself but again, not just going to throw money swapping parts. Thanks.
Will a 2mm shim fit on a 2016 Grizzly with no rub/issues? I am trying to decide to go with 1.5 or 2.0. Just trying to see if those with 2.0 have had any issues or rub.

I, first time on this forum. I have a 2016 Scrambler 1000 with only 800 miles on it and still under warranty. My engine broke yesterday while doing regular trail. Severe damages. There is a hole on both sides of the engine. Look at the pics. Is someone ever seen that? I guess it’s covered by the warranty. Is there usually no problem with Polaris warranty? Thanks for answering!

So I have a ’13 Sportsman 500. I was changing something and noticed the rear caliper bolt had come loose a little and maybe an ounce of brake fluid dripped out. Well I tightened it up and the next ride I noticed the brakes were a little mushy on the first grab and wouldn’t be good until about the third grad. Well I bled the brakes the best I could and it never got better but now it’s really bad. The brake handle will compress the entire way with nothing until you pump it a few times. I’ve topped off the brake fluid and it has new pads all the way around. Is there something else I should look at or should I just try to to bleed them out again and see if that fixes it.
