99′ polaris sportsman 500 won’t start

I haven’t started my quad in about 3 weeks. I went out to get it warmed up and tie a sled on for hauling the kids around because snow was dropping heavily. It turned over but wouldn’t start. Tried some starter fluid didn’t work. Charged the battery and changed the spark plug and still nothing… any help or recommendations would be helpful. Thanks in advance!!!

Factory BRP snorkel for xmr ready to go

I’m not sure if this is the proper place for it but I’d rather see someone on here get some use out of it then anyone else

Have the factory snorkel already riveted on the pod you’ll need and the tube. Makes for an easy install no cutting needed!

It’s in really good shape just message me on here and we can figure out a deal if you’d like.

2004 Outlander Max Spark plug fouling problem, PLEASE HELP

I am new to this site and hope I am correctly posting this. I have a 2004 Outlander Max XT 4X4 and every time I ride it, even for a short time, the spark plugs becomes sooty, not tarish, but sooty. If I shut it off and restart it, it starts hard. If I put in a new plug or clean the old one it will start right up. The air filter is clean and there is no obstructions in any part of the air intake system. I am not able to find any way or any type of carb adjusting screws. I am assuming that it needs more air to the carb, but I don’t know for sure. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks, Kennyjll

Can anyone tell me what part this is?

Hi All,

My quad has had some trouble starting recently (battery not charging) . That damb clicking noise…

Anyhow, the previous owners must of jet sprayed under the seat as there was sediment everywhere and even in some of the connections.

The photo below shows 2 parts that I pulled apart and sprayed with wd40.They were dirty and it looks like its burnt!!

Spraying this with the wd40 fixed the charging issue. It’s been good for about a month with no problems. However, its doing it again now and I think its probably due to these parts. Can anyone tell me what they/how they work/ where I can get them and at what cost?

Bike is a Honda 420 2009.

Really appreciate all your help.

Many thanks
Chris

Quebec Day Trip

Went across the river from Ottawa to Quebec for a little winter riding this past weekend. I did buy a Quebec trail pass for $300 (ouch) but I think I’ll get my moneys worth out of it just for winter riding.

The trails we were on were groomed and very well marked. In some portions you shared the trail with snowmobiles, some you had to yourself where the snowmobiles branched off to follow power lines and some spots where it was wide enough to have side by side trails for each with a snow berm separating the ATV’s and snowmobiles. It was a great system.

We started off in Val-des-Bois leaving from the parking lot of the Grill 309 restaurant right to an access trail. The access trail had been groomed at some point but was a little rutted with soft snow. Lots of twists, off camber moments and some pretty decent full throttle hill climbs. Once on to the main trail you could really cruise as they had been groomed earlier in the day. We headed North to Notre-Dame-du-Laus. Again, great trails with soft snow, some flat sections where you could open it up as well as twists and pretty big hill climbs as you made your way through the mountains. In Notre-Dame-du-Laus I topped up with gas. From all the hard running in the snow I had used up almost half a tank.

We continued North and made the loop to the East to head back to the Val-des-Bois. We did end up doing some road running on this last green section. It wasn’t too bad as the roads were snow covered so you weren’t getting covered in salt and sand. In the end we did about 6.5hrs of riding and coverd 153km with out extra exploring and missing a turn at one point. I think we will be heading back in a week or so to start further North and keep checking out their trails. I’d recommend them to anyone that gets the chance to run them. I forgot my camera so I only took a few pictures with my phone. I’ll try to get some action shots next time out.

Deer everywhere we went. I stopped to take a leak on the trail and they wander right up to you.

1987 honda trx 250

hey guys I just joined – got my hands on a 1987 trx 250 in ok shape. It has a twist pull throttle added, but the good news is I already have an OEM throttle from a 1984 trx 200 parts/not running bike I got with it, already set up for the "top mount" kind of throttle too.

i got the 1987 to run but the carb needs cleaning and it’s already a cheapo so i just ordered a new 20 dollar one (said it was keihin on ebay – LOL!). It is missing an air box so I need to decide what filter to get – an old sock will do to get it runnin… i’m gonna change out all the oil and oil filter too, and oil the gears – anything else I should do?

the working bike i have has a rope attached to the pull starter. I 3d printed a handle to tie on for now but I was wondering if I can buy a kick starter piece off ebay and just slap it in to kick start it. The pull start rope is pretty short so it doesn’t pull too far and kick starting seems way easier.
I also have a working pull start on the 1984 parts bike – how tough is it to swap those without breaking something? The engine sounds really good so I don’t want to mess it up!

I’ll post pics soon
