Hi guys, I plan on either buying or building an offroad trailer for my 12′ aluminum boat. I have a new 3.5hp merc. I’m trying to figure out how to carry the motor. I don’t want to lay it down incase it tips to much. Has anyone built some kind of bracket to carry a motor? Or should I build some type of padded bed in the boat.

I took apart the motor because the flywheel was rubbing on the crankcase. The crankshaft moved back. I took the motor apart all the journals and bearings are fine but the crankshaft was rubbing inside the engine. My question is what keeps the crankshaft in position i read in another forum that this engines dont have thrust bearings.

So my carb had to be cleaned. Did that now I don’t know where this hose goes?

First of all thank you all for sharing your knowledge on this forum. I have acquired an 02 scrambler 90 to get running for my little girl. Started out with no spark, and has progressed to a top end rebuild, much thanks to this forum. I am in need of a service manual for this bike. Specifically, I need to know the spec for installed piston ring gap. FYI, I bought a Niche top end kit. Thanks in advance!

So as previously posted I’m in the middle of a major overhaul on my 1999 300fw that my family has owned since new. It’s has very low miles on it but has never really had anything done to it other than the oils and valves. So I have gone thru everything and made a list of all the stuff I need to replace. What I’m looking for is advice on wether I should go oem or aftermarket on certain parts. It’s funny because parts people avoid for some applications I’ve used on my street bikes with nothing but 100% satisfaction. I don’t have experience with any aftermarket parts on this atv so I don’t know what is worth the money and what’s not. What will last and what won’t.
Anyhow here are the parts

-Wheel bearings
-Steering knuckle due to bad wheel bearing
-upper and lower ball joints
-tie rod ends
-outer cv joint due to bad wheel bearing
-timing chain for peace of mind
-rear diff. bearings. Incase the 350 rear end is shot and I don’t decide to do the mod.
-super atv or high lifter front disc conversion
-control arm bushings

Anyways I figure the money invested is still cheaper than a new quad and a good investment.

I have a 2008 sportsman 400 HO and am wondering if I buy a regular glacier plow for it if it will bolt right onto the atv or if I’m going to have issues. From what I’ve come across anyways it seems they didn’t make plow mounts for the 400 in that model back then. They do now but…I’m supposed to be looking at two different glaciers this weekend and want to know if the plow and mounts from his 05 sportsman 500 will work or if I will become my own engineer. Thank you for your responses in advance.

Okay so I’ve been looking into plows for my 2008 sportsman 400 ho. Does anyone know if I can mount a polaris glacier on that? From what I’ve found the mount wasn’t made for the 400 but I’ve seen pictures with the glacier on them. ??? Any help is greatly appreciated. I’m supposed to go look at 2 of them this weekend.

I’m running a Honda 420 and I had the Honda dealer put in a block heater and they did a shitty job of putting the hoses on. Basically I have a slow leak, and I only realized today and my reservoir was damn near empty. I tightened the camps on the hoses and hoping that did the trick. However I had to add some water to the reservoir tank to hopefully mix with what little of the coolant fluid was left. Does it circulate or just sit there? I’m paranoid that the water coolant mixture will freeze (-21c). Driving into town to buy coolant right now
