2013 standard 550 non eps paint

So I took my machine apart today to paint the plastics . The stock red moulded plastic color was getting boring . So I got it on the lift , broke it apart , power washed everything then got the plastics down to my paint booth and onto stands . (I work for my self custom painting Harley’s ) I washed and skuffed everything with a PPG plastic prep skuff/sponge then a pre adhesion promoter wipe . Then I blew everything off and about 10 minutes later I tacked everything off . A few minutes later I busted out PPG’s plastic adhesion promoter . The 3 step kit that consists of skuff/ sponge , a wipe and an aerosol promoter designed for this type of plastic runs around $80 bucks through my PPG dealer . I then moved onto laying down a coat of epoxy primer , then deltron DBC burnt orange metallic from a Kia automobile . Lastly a little clear sealed it up . Keep in mind this was the basic model 2013 sportsman 550 that had zero factory paint finish like the eps models . If anyone wants to do the same I’ll get them part numbers for the right plastic prep stuff . The 850 eps wheels will finish this machine off right . It’s not assembled yet but will be by next weekend . Thanks for looking friends !! ????????

Exhaust Smoke Question

I’ve had my 2008 Rancher 420 for a a few months now and am stumped with the exhaust smoke.

My ATV smokes a little. It’s like a hazy smoke. It’s not at all thick and you almost have to look for it. Also, I only notice it when I’m giving the ATV throttle. At idle I don’t notice it or it goes away.

I’ve had the compression checked and haven’t noticed my oil or coolant levels change. The compression check came back good so I’m kind of stumped.

Every time I take it out riding it bothers me. The smoke/haze hasn’t gotten worse. I’ve put about 4 tanks of fuel through it so I’m sure it’s not fuel related.

My neighbor is also an ATV guy and told me that he thinks that it’s just burning oils out of the exhaust. Where’s do these "oils" come from and is it normal?

87 TRX 350 Carb Question

Hi Guys,

Bought this quad a few months ago and it really never ran "right". Overhauled the carb and it is running A LOT better. The last guy really messed around with screw settings and that’s why i got a good deal.
One screw that i can’t figure out what it does is this one in the picture on the bottom of the carb bowl? It’s adjustable but doesn’t seem to do anything. I’m thinking it’s the drain screw or does it do something else?

shifter issues

Happy Weekend All,

I just got my kid a 1986 TRX125 four wheeler. Everything is good except the shifter. When you go to shift the wheeler up in gears the throw is so long that you have to lift your whole leg up to get it to shift. I did adjust the clutch free play… properly. please and thank you.

Hello

Hi guys, nice site here, I’m new to the Can-am, just switched over from a Suzuki 400 to an 850 outlander XT, big changes, but I figure if I’m going to change might as well go all out. Like I said I’m new to the can-am always wanted one, probably going to bug the community a lot with questions.

Transmission problem

I have a 2008 can am renegade. I took out the engine and transmission to rebuild the motor. Reinstalled the motor and transmission and now the transmission will go into P R N it will not go into H or L. Also when it’s in neutral it is still locked up and the bike will not move. I do not have either clutch on and can not turn it on (waiting for new ecu). Wondering if it needs power or anything. I do not want to prematurely take it all apart again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
