Intro

Hey everyone, I am Bart and have been riding can-am/bombardier for a number of years now. I have a 2004 outlander max, 2002 quest 650, and a 2004 rally. Yes all old but running strong. Was once a little active in a old forum long gone at "ATV frontier" for those that remember. I am retired from south western Illinois. Now that I have more time it’s possible to be more active in these forums. Most…. but not all the riding I do is at st. Joe state park and Sutton bluff campground in Mark train national forest in Missouri. Once in a while at turkey bay at land between the lakes in Kentucky…. And a few others. :th_smiliewavey:

Electrical Issues on 09 Sportsman 400

Ok…so the last 5 minutes of my ride I got stuck and reversed out which caused a shake thru the quad body….I drove 100 meters back to my garage…when turning in it tried to die then made it 1 foot more and that’s it…lights out dead….I do have power at solenoid under front storage..took a tester to ignition switch and found Confirmed power constant to red wire..and switch on powers up red/black…white grounds out when switch on…no other readings from all wires when moved to crank position
Also I Removed two plugs going into kill switch handle…gently scraped contacts with a small screwdriver
Still no power to display and no crank….battery is fully charged….anyone’s thoughts?

2016 Sportsman 850 SP questions

I’ve just recently purchased a 2016 S-Man 850SP and have noticed several posts on here regarding my model and have a few questions. I hope I can get some candid answers:

1. Frame braces. I notice several people have done this upgrade. I’ve seen a few pics of the broken frames. Obviously its a problem. I’m probably going to do the upgrade to my machine because of what people have reported. My question is, what were people doing when the frames cracked? I’m not trying to be a smarta$$ with this statement, but please don’t give me answers like "using the machine as intended" or other random answers. I swear I’m not trying to be a troll or start arguments, I’m just looking for specific things to avoid until I can get around to performing the mod.

2. Front diff. I’ve seen the posts about front diff cases cracking. This is a three-fold question. The 2016 models were supposedly upgraded to a 10% stronger case. Do they still need the mod? Does it apply to the EPS models? What were riders doing when the case grenaded? Again, not trolling, I’m just looking to avoid destroying expensive parts by running outside of what the machine can handle until I can get to the mod (if needed).

3. Seafoam. I’ve seen a lot of fans of this product. Can anyone tell me the advantages of using this versus any other product (like Sta-Bil, for example)?

2005 Sportsman 500 HO sputtering

I’ve got a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO EFI. It’ll run fine for a few minutes, then it’ll start sputtering when you hit the gas. If I turn it off and back on, it’ll be ok for a few minutes, then it does it again. Also, when at a higher RPM and higher speed, the battery indicator flashes and then goes back off when I stop. Thanks!

ISO/WTB Foreman/Rancher take offs

ISO/WTB Foreman or Rancher wheels for my Fourtrax 300 to give me more tire options. Need to be in great condition, preferably take offs that never got used. I like the newer styles, but older would work as well. Located in Southwest Louisiana and would drive within 2 hours to get them…
