Check DPS

Hi all, I have an outlander 800 xtp 2011 and when I go through a puddle at speed and it splashes up on to the quad I get the message "check dps " and my power stearing stops working. If I wait 5 minutes to let the water drain away and turn the bike off then back on it goes away and my power steering works again. It never comes on only when I get it wet, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Fuel optimizer suggestions

Hey y’all I’m running a looney tune single on my 2010 800xtp. Looking for suggestions what people recommend I get for a fuel optimizer? Hmf? Big gun? I know the hmf ones are designed to work best with hmf pipes but would that be my best option? Thanks in advance

2014 800 xt power steering issue

Hi everyone got a question for you. I’ve been riding my new 2014 800 a bit more the last week now that the snow is more or less gone. Over the winter I noticed the quad wanted to pull to the right while driving it on the road. Thought maybe one tire was a bit low at the time and never really gave it much thought. Did some more checking the last couple days now though and it’s still pulling to the right.Tire pressures are all equal, there’s 121 miles on it now and everything is tight. Can’t feel any play on the pinch bolt in the steering column it’s never been hit or damaged so there should be no bent tie rods. Now the interesting part. I jacked up the front just to check things over a bit more. With the engine running the steering wants to pull back to the right when you steer to the left. Thinking this is not normal and the power steering needs to be recalibrated or possibly software updated although I haven’t found any definite updates listed for the 2014 yet.

Quads all stock yet although I plan on putting some maxxis zillas on it fairly soon. Saw one post where his dealer said it was due to uneven tire sizes but with the steering pulling back I’m thinking that’s not my problem. Just wanted to get others opinions on that before I start complaining to my dealer. Still 2 years warranty on it. I bought it used with 23 miles on it in Dec. Lady that had it bought it new in June of 15. Any bets if Can Am will waive the 50 dollar deductible with the low mileage?::sad: lol..

Herbicide

Where I work we use roundup to spray around industrial areas. The problem is we have to spray multiple times per year. I was wondering do any of y’all use a yearly herbicide that kills the ground and keeps seeds from sprouting. I don’ t want to spend a big amount on the herbicide. Generic roundup cost about 50 bucks for 2 1/2 gallons, so it’s pretty cheap to use multiple times per year. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

My Polaris Lock & Ride XL Box review (lots of pics)

Before I decided to pick this one up, I tried to do some research on it.

Surprisingly, other than the Polaris’ stock images, I couldn’t find ANYTHING on it anywhere in the web that could give me the insight to decide if I needed it or not.

So, I did what any of us would do in that scenario… I purchased it anyway.

The box itself is sturdy, heavy and well made. It was bigger than I anticipated, and has space for a lot of things.

Due to the Rotopax gas tank mod on my Sportsman, I wasn’t able to use the Lock and Ride anchors that came with the box’s mounting kit (sold separately) which included two anchors and two ratchet tie-downs for $30.00.
The reason for this was that because the box was sitting a few more inches to the front of the bike than it was supposed to, the anchors would not hold the bottom of the box like it was designed to because if this.
As a result, riding the bike could get a bit cramped if you’re a big guy.

So, I had to use just the ratchet tie-down straps to hold the box firmly in place. They got the job done, but they defeat the purpose of the lock & ride system that I purchased the box for in the first place.
I rode a few miles with it, and the box started to slide a bit, but I stuck those small round felt pads that are used to avoid scratching furniture on the four bottom corners of the box and that did the trick.

The box’s lid is closed and held down by rubber anchors. The one thing I didn’t like is that the lid has these rubber anchors on BOTH sides, it has no hinges, so it’s impossible to open up the lid and leave it open while you search for what you need. You have to either use one one hand to hold it open or remove the lid completely

The inside of the box has two plastic dividers to keep stuff from rolling around from side to side. They are too filmsy for my liking, but hopefully they will hold well. What I would have liked for the box to have inside was anchors on the sides to use bungie cords to further restrain the cargo in place. I will try to use suction cups with hooks and see how they work.

All in all, this is a nice, roomy box. But with what I know now (about the poor lock and ride system implementation, the lack of a lid hinge, and the rubber tie downs) would I still had purchased it?
Probably not. But then again, Polaris isn’t giving us newer Touring owners much choices to begin with.
