Engine Knock After Swamping Rebuild with Power Tuner

OK, if you’ve been following my other posts you know I’ve swamped it and now have a knock and overheating. Really leaning towards starting with the 800 BBK since I don’t have to remove the engine and see if this clears up the issues. If not then I’m really not out anything since I would need those anyway if splitting the case and doing a full rebuild.

My question is how difficult is it to install the fuel/air tuner/programmer that will be needed after a BBK? I’m very mechanical but never fiddled with fuel to air ratios or mixtures. Do you need some sort of sensor to stuff in the tail pipe to read the gasses to get it tuned correctly? Can you buy the pre-programmed?

Brake pad upgrades

Well, I wasn’t paying much attention to my front brakes until it was too late. Now my brake pads and caliper pistons are completely shot.

What are my best options for replacing/upgrading? Naturally my local dealer wants an arm and a leg for the parts and I’m not sure where to look for replacements.

Looking at 2014 XTP Should I….

Hey guys I was going to buy used , new and back on the used wagon I am going to look at a 2014 Can Am Outlander 800r XT-P , It has a little over 2000KM on it. Was just wondering is there anything specific to that model or year I should look for?

Thanks for any help, I will have a couple people with me when looking at it, but this is my first atv so the more I know the better I feel.:th_smiliebanana2:

Backfireing

Had a customer bring a 08 Scrambler 500 into my shop that just ran awful and was backfiring. He had the bike all apart looking for the problem including cleaning the carburetor. The very first thing I did was buy a service manual. After several days looking for the problem checking all the electrical parts of the bike and not finding the problem I decided to recheck the carburetor. He had done a very thorough job cleaning the carburetor. The only thing he didn’t do was remove the idle pilot jet because it isn’t serviceable. I drilled out the plug over the adjusting screw and marked and removed it. I then cleaned out the low speed circuit and then put everything together. The bike ran perfect. So if you are cleaning the carburetor don’t over look this low speed idle pilot jet even if the service manual says its not serviceable..
