Just picked up a 2000 Foreman s. 450, plastics are in decent shape but the important part is she purrs like a kitten. Picked it up with 8500 km on it.

I have a couple questions though, this is my first honda. First the fan has been bypassed and put on a switch allegedly because it wasn’t coming on. From what I’ve read these quads are very warm. I’m basically pushing snow with it in my driveway so do I need to even turn the fan on? Does it hurt if I leave it on all the time? Second, the light to the right of the neutral light comes on intermittently. I’m assuming it’s a temperature light? It flickers on and off quite often right from the moment I fire the quad up. Now those to things combined I really don’t know where my temp is running, right now with it being -25 c I doubt it will overheat but would rather fix this then have the censors not working. I have no idea wher to begin looking for the problem and any info would be great. Oh ya and what’s the flashing code on the bottom of the dash???

Now the third. Rear brakes are shot. When I go in to replace is there anything I should be looking for in particular or anything else I should do while it’s apart?

And last question. What should I be running for oil? Synthetic? Keep in mind I am in a cold climate and typically this thing is being trailers out to the lake for ice fishing or cleaning the driveway. Any input from you guys is appreciated, I’ve been reading for a couple days now and it a appears there are a lot of great guys on here.

What do I have???

I recently inherited a Honda atv. I have looked in vain for any identifying plate on the vehicle. I need to get some repair parts and I need to know the year and model of the thing and I can’t find a manufacturer plate anywhere. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

2011 850 xp stumbling

Have a 2011 850 xp with eps with 6600 miles on it. Unit has performed flawlessly from day 1 beside the regular ball joints etc. Past weekend, which was very cold, it stumbled a couple of times. Started fine, but would only let me go about 11-12 mph for about a minute and then all was fine, no error codes. Never had an issue with it so not sure if that is what they call the "limp mode" or what happened. Not sure if it is related but probably is, but the weekend prior, had a code of 520194 2. Shut machine down and good to go. Have been reading alot about the tps errors and nightmares of them, but my first issue of the stumbling (loss of power) for a bit without a code, related? Will check the throttle cable and etc switch adjustment and possibly do the zip tie on the etc switch but just wondering if anyone has had the loss of power with no codes. Any help would be appreciated.

2007 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. EFI Acceleration Problems

I have a 2007 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. EFI 4×4 and it will start up and idle fine but when I attempt to accelerate the throttle it will die (cut-off). The battery was put in it last summer new but is weak and I will charge it this evening. However, I got this ATV from my brother in law and he related the sponge type air filter that was on the ATV was old and came apart and he thinks some of the pieces were sucked into the intake. However, he took it apart and did not see anything but he is not sure if any pieces went into the block through the big hole leading into the block from the intake. Again it starts fine and idles perfect but when you give it the gas it will cut off. Any assistance would be appreciated. Also, I see it has a medal type of gas filter on it can this be replaced with a clear see thru gas filter or not? Thank you Mike
