Hey guy! First off this is my first post here looking for help. I have a 2012 rancher es 420 (trx420fe). I bought it used with 500 miles and 100 hours on it in January of 2016. The problem that I have is it is burning oil as I can smell it in the exhaust. It is not smoking bad at all I can just smell burnt oil. Does not use much oil as I check it evey time I use it. I mainly use it for ice fishing and plowing driveways. I dont use it much in the summer except for a little around the yard. So I kinda figured that I need to rebuild the top end as oil is getting past the rings or some where in the top end. Now the other thing. The motor as a definite slap/rattle/tick to it. I have adjusted the valves ( not my first rodeo) and no change in the sound or the burning of oil. I will post a video of it running at idle. Sounds to me as if its coming from the water pump area. But not exacly sure. I am not sure what the mechanical seal all entails. Is there a bearing in it that could be making the noise or not? Just trying to get an idea of what it could be so I can start planing for a rebuild in the lower end. I am very mechanically inclined so tearing into it does not scare me. Just looking for some ideas as to the culprit. I know I will have a better idea when I get it torn down. But that will have to wait untill spring as its to cold now and I dont have a heated garage. Thanks for your advice in advance.
Hey guys, I’m looking to make my bike look more aggressive and a little more stabile in the corners. I do a lot of trail riding, and was thinking about getting 2" spacers for my 16 renegade on all four corners.. I know that the dimensions for our bikes are 4×137 but will I have to ream out the stud holes in the rims to fit the spacers? I don’t want to drill into my rims to fit any spacers. I know some companies selling the spacers are saying that I’ll have to drill and some don’t mention it at all.. I don’t have the xxc I just have the normal black aluminum rims.. I am going to keep rims/ tires stock. Thanks in advance!

Well I have a 2001 sportsman 500 HO. The machine has only 100 hours on it and was purchased from and older couple that drove the grandkids around. My question to everyone is, what does everyone think about this machine in general. I was thinking of buying an 850 highlifter but currently I have no quad payment lol and 10k is not something I’m looking forward to. I am thinking of relocating the rad up high and possibly a lift.

This is my first post to this forum, and I’m not sure of protocols so I’ll politely beg for some help with my problem.
I have a 2001 Fourtrax Rubicon 500. I was snow plowing a week ago with it and as I backed up from a push, I noticed a bunch of oil on the snow. I looked under the skid plate and oil is pouring out, mainly front left. The crankcase oil plug is in tight, and I can’t see a case split.
I am assuming there is a hose or hose clamp that has let go running up to the rad for the oil cooler? I want to fix this myself because I can’t afford to take it to the dealer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated… (before the next snowstorm!)
