2007 sportsman 800 x2 transmission / shifting problems

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting but have been reffering to these forums for a couple years now. I recently just bought this x2 and got a really good deal on it. Its man problem is the shifting. When it is in gear it runs great no problems at all. A few things i noticed about the shifting.
1. Park, reverse and high are very hard to get into, you almost gave to slam it into gear with a jolt.
2. N and L you almost just float right through those gears.
3. very easy to end up in between gears which will throw a temporary code 25( transmission gear – invalid input) once i was between gears and tried to go and got a grinding sound, had to punch the shift up a bit higher to get it in H.

The fluid in the tranny was extremely brown so i believe water has gotton in at some point. I changed that out with no difference in shifting. The shifting is the same on or off so i believe the problem lies in the linkage or tranny. Ive inspected the linkage under the cover and everything looked fine except that there was alot of play in the shift shaft(not sure if thats normal.) my 04 has play in the shift shaft and it shifts ok. I did not notice any broken pieces or metal in the fluid but who knows if it was previously cleaned out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, im not sure where to go from here, replace shift shaft or go into the tranny. I am no mechanic and have never been inside a pilaris tranny but i have a service manual and some common sense.

Thanks

Front bumper

Does anybody know if I can order the same style brush bumper for my 2016 850 SP as what is on the 1000 highlifter? I like the idea of those bumpers because you can actually mount the winch to the bumper. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Here is a pic of the wheeler I’m getting! ?

1995 Polaris 300 Wiring Problem

In search of some advice! I had to buy a new ignition switch for my ’95 300 4×4 because I had lost the keys for it. The wires on the new switch were different colors than the original, so I had to play the guessing game on the new one. Well I have the new ignition switch wired correctly, but in the process of finding out which wire went where, I believe I fried something electrical because the 4 wheeler won’t start. It turns over and I have spark, but it will not start (not even after spraying some starting fluid in the intake). I’m pretty sure I had to have fried something because I accidentally put the ground wire in the hot wire’s spot and the hot wire in the ground wire’s spot. I do have a couple of junker early 90s Polaris 4 wheelers that I can try swapping out some electrical parts, but I have no clue where to begin. Like i said, I do have spark. I even have spark when the kill switch is on, but maybe that’s normal?
