2001 Sportsman 500 HO

This is my first time posting to this forum. I have been having a problem getting my radiator fan to work. It was overheating and then I finally realized that the fan would never turn on so I thought it was the fan motor. I bypassed the heat switch on the radiator and the fan ran fine and I did not have any overheating. So that made me think that the switch is just bad. I have a new switch now and got all installed but the new switch will still not turn the fan on so I don’t know what is wrong. Let me know if anyone has any ideas. Thanks!

Flashing battery/speedo needle

OK i have 2006 sportsman 450 i a bought a new battery for it and went to put it in not realize Auto zone gave a reverse terminel battery. 1st mistake, i went to connect it, as I touched the pos or neg not sure which one last the fan began to run. Now my ATV was off with no key in it. After realizing i had the wrong battery I went back to Auto zone and got the right one. I connected it and it started fine but then the battery light began to flash and the speedo indicator. If I drew power while it was running like turning on the lights low or high it would stop for a few seconds. If I activated the winch it would stop for a few seconds. I just used it to plow my driveway the other day, as i was plowing it hardly flashed, it would for a few seconds then I would lower or raise the plow it would stop or if the fan kicked on it would stop. Today I went out to run it because I just cleaned the idle jet and want it to stay running without having to clean it again. The light started to flash I turn the lights on to stop it and it blew the low light bulbs I turned on the highs on and it blew that bulb too. I was thinking its over charging would that cause the battery to flash and speedo? any idea would be great. Voltage regulator, ECM, I hope not the Stator. Thanks again in advance

700 Sportsman

I have a 2001 sportsman 700 twin come in to me.I am not real familiar with quads but said id look at it. Customer drove it off of the trailer and then later it would crank but no start. Brought into shop and found no spark. After some testing determined stator. Pulled side cover and found where wires attach to stator were burnt off. customer ordered new stator and I installed it. Still no spark. Customer got new rectifier and ignition coil module. Still no spark. I dont know where to turn next. Can anyone give me some advice?

Elka Stage 1’s On the Way

Welp I pulled the trigger and purchased the Stage 1 Elka’s. I have extrememly contemplated the Stage 3’s but I think I will be happy with the improvement of the stage 1’s over stock. I dont think I will ever need the rezi’s but it would be nice to have adjustment ability I just dont know if it is 350$ nice. For me! I also ordered 1" spacers as my 14′ 550 doesn’t have the improvements the 700 got. Still super ticked about this!!!!

Are there any installation tips or things to look out for with these? I am super excited and hope they will help my back! Am I going to kick myself in the butt in a year for not getting the stage 3’s?

Throttle Overrun Problem

Afternoon Gents,

New user, first post and based in the UK

Got a 2010 Grizzly 550 and I love it!

Its been developing a problem and its getting worse, when you let off the throttle the engine keeps running like your on throttle for a few seconds. Its not too bad during normal use, but when I’m reversing to hook up the trailer its becoming a real issue.

Could any of you guys point me in the right direction as to what could be the cause.

I have checked the thumb throttle and its springing back to place fine as soon as you get off the throttle. Could it still be the cable?

Is there some sensor that could be causing these issues?
Its a little still changing the gear mode, I plan on adjusting it this weekend to rule that out (I have an owners manual) any tips on adjusting?
