2008 Outlander 500 Loss of Power

Hey guys I need some help. I have a 2008 Outlander 500XT (the wife’s ride) that is like brand new……..it has right at 30hrs on it and less than 300 miles; I’m the original owner. It has never been mudded and always stored in my shop, never sits out. This thing looks like it did when we brought it home.

About 3 weeks ago we took them out. Went to my deer lease and rode around for the day, mainly gravel roads and a few trails; she goes around most of the mud holes. HaHa I always rinse them off before heading home so they’re not so hard to clean up.

The next morning I backed them out to clean them up right……..it had been a while for mine especially. I always spray them down with a couple cans of “Gunk” each and then pressure-wash them off. Didn’t run them anymore than what it took to pull them back in the shop.

Her’s has sat there since……until this last weekend she wanted to ride down the road and pick some blackberries. For starters the battery was dead, which I thought was weird since it’s a pretty new battery. Put it on the charger and the battery charged right up. Fired it up and pulled it out for her when I noticed it felt like it had no power. So I drove it down the street and it’s like the brakes were on. I could not get it above 27mph or ~5200rpm and it took forever to get that and if you pulled any kind of a hill it really struggled.

I first suspected it was in some sort of “limp mode”. I checked the engine codes and it shows no active “P” codes. I pulled the air-filter and it looked good. I pulled the plugs and they looked fine too. Put it in neutral and it roles fine so it’s not bound up anywhere. I loosened the gas cap to make sure a vent hose was not clogged and that didn’t seem to help anything either.

I’m stumped. It starts right up and will sit there and purr like it should for as long as you want it to, so I don’t think it the fuel. But if you try to rev it up while in neutral, you know something is not right because it has a very slow throttle response. It doesn’t spit and sputter, it just feels extremely sluggish. As an example, you can hammer the throttle (WOT) and it won’t even turn the gravel over……just slowly starts to go and within a couple hundred yards you may be up to 27mph.

Any help would be very appreciated.

2010 trx420fpa Should I stick with Honda oil and gear lube or go synthetic.

I have a 2010 Honda rancher at w Eps. I have done one oil change on it since I bought it using Honda oil and filters. I only use it around 3-4 times a year if i am lucky for a few hours each time. It is 6 years old now and i only have 80 hours on it and maybe 150 miles on it.
I was curious if I could use amsoil in the engine and front and rear differentials? I am a amsoil preferred customer so I get there oil at dealer cost and I use it in my motorcycle with no issues but I’m not sure how it will work with the auto transmission of my AT model. Will it cause any clutch slippage or do anything harmfull or be two slick (have to many feiction modifiers)for the clutch? Has anyone used amsoil in an AT model? Does it work? I am sure I can use it in the differentials with no issues. Thanks for the help.

02 scrambler 90 will not stay running?

I have 02 or so polaris 90 scrambler. I have put a new carb it with a manual choke. I disconnected the oil injection and have be putting in 50-1 pre mix. The machine starts right up and idles great as long as there is gas in it. It will drive for a short while then die out. I will start it again and same thing. I will get about 50-75 yards out and it dies. Any ideas here? I have cleaned and adjusted the carb numerous times.

04 predator need help

Not good with wheelers I’m a car guy and just bought a TLD 04 predator. I rode it about 4 days ago and drove it to where it sits….went to go start it yesterday and it turns over followed by a VERY loud backfire. Will not start. Checked was out of fuel put fuel in it same issue. What I don’t understand is that I rode it to where it sits….I woukd like some Input on what to.do before I go tear it apart….fouled plug? I read the woodruf key shears but I’m just confused as to why it would run to where it sits a few days ago (only put about a half gallon of fuel in it) heard predators need a lot to start please help. Should I try to pop start I?

Juggernauts!

Got the new to me juggs on. Love the way they look and ride smoother than the 32" backs on hard pack. Haven’t had a chance to test them in the mud yet but c’mon, look at them! The wife can’t remember the name so she calls them the luggernuts lol.
