New member here. I have done a bunch of searching around the forum and while I have found a few helpful suggestions, I still haven’t been able to solve the issue I am having. I have also gone through the ‘won’t start’ thread.
I have a 2008 Sportsman 500 that randomly won’t start with the key anymore and won’t even try to turn over. I started it to plow the other day, drove around, turned the machine off for a couple of minutes, went to turn it back on and nothing. Not even a click at the solenoid. I pull started it and it worked fine. The interesting thing is the next day I tried using the key and it fired right up. But ever since that time, no luck with the key.
Below is a list of everything I’ve tried:
– I have jumped the battery – no luck. Battery seems fine though as all lights turn on when I turn the key and the winch works fine.
– I have jumped the solenoid and the machine fired right up.
– Tried replacing the solenoid and no change.
– I have also tried hitting the starter, but that didn’t help at all.
– I pulled the headlight assembly apart and confirmed that all wiring was clean and installed correct at the key switch.
– I have also tried replacing the switch and still no luck.
The emergency on/off switch appears to be working fine and I have cleaned that as well.
Any suggestions on what else to try at this point? I figured that since I can pull start the machine and jump it from the solenoid that it isn’t an issue with the starter, but that’s just a guess on my part. And I have confirmed that the machine is in neutral and run switch is on.

Hi all, i am new to all this internet forum stuff so bear with me lol! Basically i have had my trx 420 for about 6/8 months now and i absolutely love it as a useable machine around our shoot, although the one thing i am not loving is the random cutting out!! There seems to be no pattern or cause as to when or why the machine cuts out but when it does it all points to a fuelling issue?!?! But after a new fuel pump and filters the problem is still there!!! After putting a voltmeter on the plug to the fuel pump it seems that the voltage is very inconsistent, it seems that if the voltage drops below 10ish its not enough to run the pump? But what would be causing this to happen at such random moments and why if you leave it for around five minutes (sometimes more sometimes less) it starts again and may not cut out for minutes, hours or even days? Any ideas or help would be much appreciated as its getting worse and my patience with it grows shorter each time it stops working!!!
Since nobody checks the classifieds – there’s a smokin deal on a full set of stage 4 elkas (preload/rebound dampening/highspeed compression/lowspeed compression) over there for the Max G2 chassis.
You can only get high speed compression on the stage 5s now if you were try and buy new! :th_smiliethumbsup:
I’m on the shore and just wanted to hear where everyone is riding. I was thinking about visiting AOAA for the first time. I’ve been told its an amazing place to ride, correct me if I’m wrong.
So, i recently bought a 2008 Foreman 500 4×4 ES, this week i changed the steering bearing, but now the circlip makes a clunking noise when turning, not all the time but frequently.
Could it be becuase the top dust seal is missing ?(the dealer forgot to put it in the package)
Or could it be that the bearing is not seated fully?

So just noticed my front left outer cv boot on my 07 kodiak 450 has a tiny tear in it. Just wondering, when replacing that boot, do you have to replace the inner boot as well (since everything i have found about replacing it requires removal of the inner boot), unless Im misreading. Perhaps someone has some simple instructions I could follow (Im not doing this myself, but my brother is, who is a mechanic).
So I bought a used rene 800 and forgot to check the oil level. Have had it a week and now after a pretty quick run the engine starting making a clicking/knocking sound. Checked the oil and sure enough, it’s only half way up the dipstick (way below the minimum oil line) It starts fine and runs fine except for the noise. Don’t want to rev it too much or drive it till I get this figured out.
I disconnected the belt just to make sure it’s not a tranny or axle thing and the sound seems to be coming from behind the clutch cover. Doesn’t sound like a top end thing so I’m not sure.. Just looking for some advice/opinions before I have to lift out the engine and see whats up. Has 3000 miles on it..
